I had mvd surgery 8 weeks ago . They couldn't find nerve so neurosurgeon decided to cut my nerve anyway to relieve the pain. The agony is gone which i am happy about but i ended up with numb face and head ... maybe for rest of my life . It is early to say what will happen . My left side was affected so my left eye vision is blur and my hearing is very sensitive and sometimes deaf, i can't kiss my husband because i don't feel half of my lips which is distressing , eating is complicated as i still struggle to control movements of my lips . I have infected left cheek from constantly biting in it . At first i find it hard to cope with but i am getting used to it and improving day by day. I have two lovely kids and they are somethink that worth fight for . I suffered from this TN pain for 3 years . Recently i started to have shooting pain in my jaw , burning sensation is coming back although it is at low i am depressingly scared it'll come back . any advice or information ...please . Also if you need more information about the surgery and so on i will be happy to help . x
Yes, I'd like to know too, as I'm off to the Neurosurgeon on Thursday to discuss if I'm a candidate for MVD and if so, get it done asap. I don't want the nerve cut.......
I have had tn over 10 years and 11-30-11 I had my MVD operation. It is on my right side, my face is numb on my whole right side. But I feel it is getting better. I found out it helps to chew or put a mint flavor in your mouth. You want bite your jaw as much and it makes your mouth feel a lot better. I will tell that things improve only very slowly. I had kidney stones a few weeks ago and believe it or not the numbing went out of my face for about hour. It felt great. So my hope is in the Lord I know one day I will be normal again. Things happen to help others and you don't know how many you have already helped. Good Luck and God's Speed
