MVD Progress Report - 1 Year 4 Months after surgery

Hello Everyone..It has been 465 days since I had MVD surgery in Los Angeles California. I had several pain free months, perhaps six, and then the shocks and burning pains began to return. The pain is now as intense as it ever was but less frequent. I take 400 to 800 mgs of Tegretol daily to combat it. This is my only chemical defense. It seems that if I walk to much or play golf, or do physical things that I love to do I pay dearly the next morning and for a few days afterwards..If I use my eyes to much, (I like to play battle games on line with my playstation3) and they get tired I also pay a pain price. If I am around any fumes or odors i.e. paint or pool chlorine this triggers shocks. Sometimes I go days without any pain whatsoever and actually begin to believe that this curse as run its course...but it always returns. The surprising thing I have learned about pain and living is it is possible to have a good life... I manage around this dreadful curse. When I am having pain free spells I make the most of every day and when I am having bad spells, like today, I sit still and simply rest. Sometimes I have to sit still for a few days but I catch up on my reading in between pain spells...I could write a whole book on my experience with TN over the last six years but the above pretty much sums it up.....if your thinking about rolling the dice and having an MVD I hope that my experience will help you make that tough decision....God Bless all of you that suffer along with me.
