Mvd and numbness?

Hey I had my MVD done two days ago. (Feb 4th)! I have horrible numbness! Will this go away? I can’t even taste my food! Feel my head, my cheek, nose, forehead anything. Please help!

I had my MVD about 10 weeks ago. I never had any numbness in my face- but from what I hear it is fairly common and will get better with time. I Do have some numbness still in my skull- on the side on my surgery. It comes and goes and has definitely improved over the weeks. You are so fresh off your surgery so I would not think too much into it. Let your body rest and recoup. Im impressed your up and well enough to get on the computer! I was still pretty out of it 2-3 days afterwards! Great to hear your feeling well!

You should be knocked out on pain meds…sleeping…the MORE sleep you get, the faster the healing!

It can take weeks, or months to feel normal.

You will not feel normal today or next week.

Please do not stress.

The odds are HUGE
this is temporary.

The numbness will very likely improve gradually over time but some may still remain. I am 30 yrs post MVD surgery and I get episodes of numbness in my check and side of my tongue. Sometimes even feel numbness on the side of my head. Its not consistent but flairs up periodically. Has absolutely no impact on my life just a reminder of the days with terrible TN pain. You will be fine recovery takes some time.

I had numbness for two weeks.

We are like fingerprints or snow flakes ,

Very much individuals, in our TN, our symptoms, meds, recovery.

You just had major surgery. Give yourself time.

The numbness should gradually diminish and eventually disappear totally. Give it time.

Hi Katie,

Has your numbness went away? I just had MVD surgery 6 days ago and experienced complete numbness, including tongue, lips, teeth, forehead, chin, cheek on the right side of my face. This really scares me. Please let me know how long it takes you to get rid of your numbness. Any TN pain since your surgery?
