It has been awhile since I last joined into any discussions mainly due to an auto accident wherein I was rear ended. I was about six and a half months post MVD when this occurred. I have found the “dent” or entry point where surgery began is sore and that I also feel my healing process has taken a step backwards as I am now experiencing pain on the right side of my skull. I do not have facial pain but am still sensitive to breezes ( almost said geezers LOL) and cold.
I was just wondering if anyone else has had any similar incidents within the first year after MVD?
I would really appreciate any input or suggestions. I have been offered massage for whiplash but I could not stand being rubbed/ touched anywhere near back of head as it aches
Hi chippy. I had a car accident a year after my MVD. Banged my head badly. Resulted with my TN. Kicking in again within hours. Proceeded to get worse. The outcome was a second MVD. The bang to the head had actually dislodged the original Teflon pad. A freak accident they said. Never known it to happen before. I hope your pain goes away x Tracey
So sorry to hear about both of your experiences with an accident after MVD. I'm at exactly 18 months since my successful MVD and I've always wondered what would happen if . . ? I've avoided horseback riding and zip lining on a recent vacation for fear that if I knocked my head, my TN might return, shifting the Teflon pad, etc. I know we cannot avoid every "accident" so I hope that I come to peace with that at some point. Did your second MVD workout, Tracey? Was it an easy fix to just replace the Teflon pad? Chippy, I bet with time, you will be feeling better. I was in a bad car accident years ago and while I was "uninjured", it did require some massages over a few months to work out everything. My muscles were so tight, a natural reaction to a car slamming into you. This soon after surgery, you likely still have some inflammation form the surgery itself and the accident just aggravated that, setting you back temporarily. Wishing you a speedy recovery now so that you may experience the joy that I have had these last 18 months (or since my recovery). Please keep us posted.
Hi Chippy. Sorry you endured a car accident after MVD. I seem to remember that happening to another LWTNer (other than Tracey) and it does make sense that the jolt could knock the teflon pad out of position.

Thank you so much for your input in this. I am currently waiting a call back from my neurosurgeon to see if she wants me back for an MRI or to advise what type of treatment she recommends. As my skull on right side has always been sore/achy/tender and just touching in that area is sensitive I am hoping it will feel better but the back of my neck is a killer at times. I take hot showers, sit in my Lazy-Boy which has heat and massage to try to loosen up any knots but I think therapy may help. Hopefully they understand TN
Many thanks to you the people who are here just for this kind of support. It is wonderful to know that at least there are others who have been through this to give you comfort and support. Bless you
Chippy
