MRI with contrast

I had my MRI with contrast today and was wondering if having it with contrast is a better way of picking up on any compressed nerves or if that is what most people are having done? After having it done the lady asked "do you have an appt to see a neurologist right away?" and I said yes on the 29th of this month....she said ok. That kind of made me think they saw something while doing the MRI....do these technitions have the ability to read these? Or are they only preforming the exam and someone else reads it?
