My symptoms are always worse when I first wake up. Must take a shower and pain pills first thing. Is this true for anyone else?
You can get pain any time of day or night. maybe consider how you are sleeping. I have to sleep elevated and only on my right side. My TN is on my left side.
I think someone here mentioned they sleep in a lazy boy chair.
Mine has been all over the map. When I would get hit in the morning, I would set the alarm 30 minutes early with pills and water right by my bed to take them so they could kick in before I got up. Sometimes I would also use a heating pad.
Me too… Pills is my breakfast :’(
My mornings are the worst as well. I get up and take my meds then go back to bed for 30 min. I figure it's because that's the longest unmedicated stretch of time we experience. I take my last dose of Trileptal around dinner time then nothing until 7 or 8 the next morning. I don't believe it has to do with my sleep position. It's simply being so long unmedicated.
I go to bed with TN pain, but can generally wake up with no TN pain. But! once I get up and start the day, within the first 15/20 minutes the pain starts, it has been like this for the past 8 years with TN type 2.
I have had breaks in between (pain free days), but the TN is always there. Even the pain free days I can get what I call phantom pain, small shocks and dull aches.
I suffer TN type 2 on both sides, the right side is the worst by far. I used to say I never get the pain on both sides at the same time, but this is now untrue.
I can have the pain on the right side at a constant level 7/8 with the pain dropping off to a level 5/6, when the pain drops I can experience pain attacks on the left side in short shocks. It seems I suffer the constant TN type 2 and also the type 1, my GP said he has known this to happen.
