Pain in the morning

Why is it that I wake up with pain everyday...sometimes its worse than others...but for the most part, it's a daily occurance. It's always the left side, maybe b/c that is the side I am usually on when I wake up. But does anyone else experience this, and do you have any suggestions for me to stop it?

Hi Redhead1,
Are you on any medication for TN?
If so, I would talk to your doctor about the possibility of increasing your med by a dose and that you take that dose first thing in the morning. Sometimes relief can be found by simply changing when you take your medication.
In my own experience years ago, I was struggling for consistent relief with tegretol until my doctor suggested trying the extended release form of tegretol, which slowly releases the tegretol and lasts double the time of the regular tegretol.
This change made all the difference in managing my pain.

Thank you, right now, all I am on is Neurontin 300mg three times a day...and Lortab if needed...I go back to see him on September 25...and I am sure things will change.

Read all you can…so that you can ask what choices you have…too many chronic people just accept what they hand you next… We can be cheerleaders!

Yes, agree to talk to your Dr. I change my neurotin dose based on pain levels at the time. One thing I have found is if I accidently roll over on my right side (TN right side), I get pain pills or not, also if a blanket even touches that side. I have found big pillows and keeping propped up on the good side really help in not getting morning pain. If I wake up laying flat, I have pain, propped up more on correct side do much better. Keep us informed, always thinking of everyone and wishing for the most pain free days possible!
