I would rather take the pill form if possible, but I don't know if insurance will pay for it or not. Has anyone ever tried that pot ice cream they came out with?
I've been told you have to be careful with edibles as they metabolize slower and can hit you hard because you don't feel it right away. I want to try it also and will look into the insurance consequences/ issues as suggested
I only read some of the comments. Actually, where Iām at, itās not legal yet medically (but I know that will change in the future!) Funny enough, my very first neurologist years ago told me if it were legal, he would prescribe it to all of his TN patientsā¦ with that said, I canāt get a prescription, but I might be inclined to self-medicate. The way certain strains work, they "calm down"the nerve so that the attacks are less harsh and less frequent while under the influence. Unfortunately, the numbing effects only last for about 45 minutes to maybe an hour. So I would only use it during the worst times, when Iām having attacks every few minutes or so for a long timeā¦ itās sad. The combination of legal medications that have close to the same effects are (for me) steroids, morphine, Carbamazipine (which Iām HIGHLY allergic to) and Baclofen, along with benadryl at night to help sleep. Or, I could just smoke a joint. It kills me that by law, they would rather me take scary combinations of very strong pills over taking something completely natural that actually shows results! Oh, Americaā¦
you should take a look at this. And it sounds like your sheriff friend is placing his own views on this or is afraid he wouldn't get re-elected.But you know him better. Unless you're growing a farm of mj I think the feds wouldn't even be interested.

I so wish I could try it. although our state says it's legal, our sheriff who is a friend of ours, will not allow it saying under federal regulations it is against the law. I would try it in a minute if I thought it would help. I look forward to responses.
As I recently posted in another thread, I tried it a little while ago. It was in a piece of chocolate given to me by a California friend. She also gave me a lollipop. It worked, or at least masked the pain. It also got me high. Not having pain and being high were enjoyable. I don't know if I can lose the pain while remaining sober, so maybe it's not an everyday cure. I will try again, somehow, although the MM law in my state allows it for specific illnesses, TN not being one. It's as illegal now as when I smoked way back in college. It shouldn't be. It won't be in a few years. I've been in pain for 30 years. Bad timing is not reason enough to continue to suffer. Even if it is only an occasional thing -- nothing is as sweet as relief.
tkal~~Very interesting! he went to high school with my dh and my in-laws always support him. Recently since I wrote this, he has come out pretty strong against some things that we do not agree with him at all, thus while a nice person, financially he has lost our support. Now if I can just get up the nerve to try this! What do you do about drug testing for a job? Thanks for the input~~
Thehoward,I haven't found any that actually took the pain away but purple kush helps me not care so much and lets me sleep for a few here and there I smoked some strawberry kush last night and it did help the pain for a little while. I am ready to go back for more in a few.If you choose this way good luck it is so hard to get any controlled substance, I don't care if it's a 1or a 5.So all though I haven't stopped because even if I do I can't find anyone to help with or without mm. Wishing you the best, Dawn
Shepherdgirl, I haven't been able to work since 2003 because the pain interfered so bad with my AWESOME job.I was a nanny for one little guy born in 1990 and then his brother was born in 1995. I also was a house keeper before and then had that job and all animals before the boys were born and after.I didn't. start smoking mm untill this Jan.So if you have a job or looking for one you either cheat which I don't recommend or stop or don't start. Wishing you the best today and everyday. Dawn (HUGS)
I'm on disability so I don't have to worry about that. I also live in a state that legalized mj for recreational use. I guess it depends on your job.

Your sheriff's not going to get the FBI to drop all it's doing to smoke out one pot user. Especially not in a state that allows MM. Not even the feds are enforcing this one. I'm not a lawyer, but I fear your friend -- who I bet he likes his liquor -- has intimidated you, and this should not be. I understand he is your friend, but most certainly doesn't understand you.
Sounds like you live in a small town. I have no idea what it would take to find a safe source there. Considering where I live, I can't forgive myself for not trying it sooner.

I just checked. You live in California!!!! Go to a doctor and ask. Your sheriff is powerless. He is being judgmental. His will come to understand, His kind will pass. Tell us what happens.
My doc was very willing to prescribe the MM but is is super expensive and not covered by any insurance companies. I have tried Cannabis Sativa Seed Oil in gel caps but dis not get relief from that. In the end my doc and I decided that making a tea from the real deal would be my best option. I have not tried it yet as I am too chicken to buy it. In my head I envision swat teams descending on my house. Still something I am considering though. Must be healthier than all this pharmacuetical crap I am putting in my body with only moderate relief. All the best and keep us posted.
I 'M IN SO MUCH PAIN I 'D LIKE TO RUN OUTBID N FRONT OF A MACK TRUCK!But I 'm so hi I can laugh about it! It helps me deal and I know some say its not good but if I can do something to help any of this I am going too! I know some places its still so controversial, and it still makes people nervous but after yrs. of opiods and all the other things I have had done this has to be the healithest, I can't be much goofier then a on so many of the different meds and doses I have been on.(lol) I actually Think my level of pain is a little better! I'm happy for any relief no matter how small.Anyway what's the worst? I always said if they took someone to jail with tn and their wrenched with pain. I bet they wouldn't keep me but a hot second! Ha! Let me shut up. We just want this pain to go away!!!! Dawn
I think maybe we should organize a response to the govt/medical community saying we should have an equal shot at getting relief from intractable pain. Anybody know if anything has been done on this front? Just sitting around and hoping someone notices? The squeaky wheel gets the grease, right?
Thanks Howard, you are so right on the mark! I have lot's else to say, but need to get off the 'puter and be mom for awhile ;-) appreciate the insight!

Able to stop TN PAIN for you, there is onlyā¦ to try it
I don't know anything about drug testing for a job. Reason should dictate that if you are taking a drug legally, there should be no penalty. But reason doesn't always dictate. There has to be someone to ask who knows about how this is handled in California. Is there a state dept. of labor, or an agency charged with overseeing the mm program?
I have ATN. And It helps the pain instantly. But not for long. I still have to take Neurontin and klonopin but usually less of the pills with marijuana. Itās not legal here. Iāll be going to a neurologrst soon. Should I tell him I use M for my pain or not? I donāt want him to think Iām a drug seeker.
If you canāt get a prescription from himā¦for MMā¦then probably not worth mentioningā¦
Many here knows it helps! And thatās all that matters for nowā¦ It HELPS NERVE PAIN! Itās listed in studies and journals now! : )
And 55% of America is ready to join the band wagon!
Iām not moving to Coloradoā¦tooo coldā¦lol
but hoping within 5 years, Iāll have a list of states to choose to move to!
What do you want from the neurologist ?
