My wife is suffering from atypical TN, and drugs seem to have no effect on it. We have been reading a lot lately about some cases being cured by class 3b or class 4 laser stimulation. Anyone have experience with this?
Please pop the words "laser treatment" into the search box and see what comes up. I suggest anyone considering this option does this and sends a comment to "RED", our site expert. LwTN does not support certain medical facilities offering this treatment .
There is no medical evidence beyond self-serving and possibly paid testimonials on certain websites, that low level laser treatment has any affect on TN at all. I personally suspect that those who have reported miraculous improvement after a two-week series of "treatments" may be dealing with the well known placebo effect. We've also had repeated and sometimes quite angry and aggressive efforts by multiple spammers to push that particular treatment here on Living with TN. However, low level laser is not certified by the US FDA as anything more than "safe". There are no insurance codes for it, and "treatment centers" which use and advocate it generally charge the patient something over $4,000 dollars for the privilege.
What medications has your wife been tried on, and in what doses?
Regards, Red
