Hello @Ubermom57,
Welcome to the Living with Facial Pain Community! We’re glad that you have chosen to connect with our community. I’m sure it has been very challenging to not see much success with your daughter’s treatments. Hopefully, you’ll find this community to be a helpful resource. If you are unsure of where to start, I would suggest either checking out some of the recent discussions on the homepage or using the search bar (the magnifying glass icon in the top right corner) if you have a specific topic in mind. Of course, you are welcome to start your own discussion post using the “+ New Topic” button if you feel ready. It can be a great way to connect with other members and share your experiences and questions. Please feel free to reach out if you have any questions.
Wishing you and your daughter all the best,
Elana
Hello Ubermom,
Sorry to hear about your daughter, TMJ is such a horrible thing. If you’ve never dealt with the pain of it you can’t understand. I noticed you live in Maryland, that is in my region. I also have TMJ, but mine is from a brain tumor. However, my only relief came from John Hopkins. I had a rhizotomy a couple years back and feel a lot better. Dr. Lim and the neurosurgeons there are very good. I’m sure you have a neurologist already but there may be other help. Good luck. I hope you find relief. Gloria 37
I had TMJ for several years and my family doctor sent me to his dentist son in law who specialized in the treatment of TMJ. He made a mouth piece that I slept with every night for several years and he made several of them over about a three year period and the pain was gone forever.
My niece underwent surgery and has no jawbone or jaw joint now. Do not go the surgery route or use the DuPont implants.
