Lamictal

Today is third day on 600mg of Lamictal. I also take 30 mg of Baclofen. I have not had a shock in two days! This is very unusual but a much need rest period. I hope it continues. I am worried about taking this much meds. I have not had and Oxycodone in 3 days so I think that is good. My face is numb and talking is a little difficult but I’ll take that over the pain. Hope everyone else has a pain free day!

I’ve been on Lamictal for nearly two months now (5o mg. 3xday) and it worked great all by itself until this past weekend when I started getting pain again. It started as a toothache and I wondered whether it really was a toothache. Well, it wasn’t and the pain has spread to the whole right side of my face. I’m still looking for something I can take for the pain itself (Ibuprofen takes the edge off but I have to take it all the time). I think I’ll contact my neurologist about upping my Lamictal dosage since I appear to be on a very small amount to begin with.

Sharon, have you had any side effects from the Lamictal? I haven’t (knock wood) and am most happy about that, especially for not feeling drugged and exhausted all the time.

Best of luck in staying pain free!

Hey Karen,
As I got up to 300mg a day, I started having headaches but after a week they were gone. I then went to 400mg with no side effects. Now at 600 mg no side effects. I do feel a little tired but worth it to get rid of pain. I kept going up on Lamictal when the pain got bad again. I normally could go a few weeks to a couple of months almost pain free before it returned. It got so bad that I had to jump to 600mg. Good luck with it. If it was working you are probably ready to go up. I would do 100mg in the morning, 50 mg at lunch and 100mg at bedtime. Be sure to check with your doctor. Hope you will be pain free!

Everyone please remember to make sure your doctor takes you VERY SLOW up on Lamictal -

I take two tablets every day, 100 mg each. I've been at that dose for about a month. I took two this morning at 9:00 am and then by accident took another 100 at 4:00 pm. The pharmacist said I should be fine. Has anybody ever had the same or similar experiences?

Thanks
