Is this OK?

I hope you have discovered that music can help you get through a rough episode of pain, or even keep triggers at bay. I keep a visible list (taped to the wall!) of the things that help when I’m in the most pain. Since pain causes me to forget and have to start my own regimen over, it serves as a reminder to me and to anyone who may be trying to get me through a tough period. After "Medication", "Music" is the next item on my list. My singing is awful, but my moaning and groaning is much worse. Singing along with a song also forces your mind to switch over from all your thoughts of worry and pain. Here is a favorite that I like to put on loud when I'm making a stand against pain.

I have copied this just to ask what you all think. She has been a member for 1 month. She has already put 2 "virals" on her about this group. When my TN is doing it's worst I can barely breathe yet she is advocating loud singing? Are we being used as a tool to sell music or am I being overcautious? I look forward to hearing from you.

I think she’s barking mad!!!

I also disagree with the theory one member commented on...that the part of the brain that recognizes pain also is responsible for listening to drumming...and the brain "can't do two things at the same time". I'D LOVE TO SEE RED WEIGH IN ON THAT ONE!!!

Thank you Gloria, I totally agree that not many member will engage with this. My main concern is that she is using her membership to spam some group she is connected with, as we all know that singing and TN do not go together. It is just not possible at all for me!

She shouldn’t be allowed to spam YouTube music all over the place. We’ll have to keep an eye on this.

I always thought the brain capable of many activities at any one time. How the heck does it keep the body going if multi functions are not possible?

Exactly, Jackie. If that’s really in that book then the book is wrong. I think that whole concept is hogwash. If listening to a drum could distract our brains from TN pain we would all be in the music industry - or at the very least, rock band groupies! And yes Jackie, the body wouldn’t be able to function. Jeeze! The brain is sending out countless signals every second.
