I had a cyst removed that was wrapped arounnd the nerves causing pain while I sing and such. The cyst was removed, but I was told that it will take a year and a half to see how things end up. Different medications until then I being tryed. Anyhow, it hurts to sing sometimes, but if i dont have my music, i go insane. What would you do it this situation? Im thinking of just sucking it up and dealing with the pain so i can be happy.
Hi Christian, Yes I would ! You know to what level of pain you can tolerate.
So sing, if the TN pain gets out of control stop!
As long as your singing doesn’t affect your healing, why not?
I too love music and love to sing, somedays I can sing or just listen to my music really loud, and other days there’s no way I can sing let alone talk or even to,erate any music at all.
Take care of you, I hope you find something to ease your pain soon,
Mimi
YUP !! Unless they sd no singing do to healing process ... then it would be mouthing words & AIR GUITAR all the way !
Christian, you do whatever makes you happy. I'm grateful that I play guitar instead of sing cause right now I couldn't do it. I try from time to time but it is just too much pain. As long as you are not hurting yourself go for it. We need to make our lives as rich and fulfilling as possible. Much love from one musician to another.
Are you able to sing now?
If it makes you happy then do it. It is amazing what pain and sensations a person can get used to. I work in sales and although talking often triggers pain I don't stop speaking. You will know your limits. There are days for me that are too much to handle and those are the days that I rest but there is a saying " I may have TN but TN doesn't have me ". Keep on living your life and plow right through the pain if you are able to :)
I'm a musician, too -- singing and playing the piano are my passions. I always felt that if I couldn't sing for some reason, I'd go nuts ... Playing the piano can also help fill the void. I have found that when I am ill from TN or anything else, I just have to sit back and get well and then resume when I feel better. After my neck surgery 4 years ago, I had to turn down some engagements until I was able to physically sing again. Took awhile. But it was worth the wait. Music in itself is therapy. Playing the piano was wonderful physical therapy after my neck surgery, believe it or not. And it is therapy for the soul. Proven fact!
