Is there anyone that has TN that affects your eye?

I have TN and I have pain in and around the eye. I'm trying to learn what some of the triggers may be , other than breezes.

Hi There!

For myself I find that being on the computer too long, stress, light and too much reading. Everyone is different but so far those have been my triggers,

I try to have soft music , dark areas , and lots of prayer avoid drama

God Bless

Thank you KC Dancer, just learning my way around, so that helps.

Hi Blessed no matter what, I had serious problems with light before, but the steroids helped with that. The computer is probably a problem. I'm a Realtor and off and on for most of the day, especially at night. I need to pay more attention, and prayer has been what keeps me from losing my mind. So glad I joined the site, first has been more help than I've had before.

My left eye constantley twitches every since my car wreck that brought on the TN pain. I also had pain in and around my eye. I have had a neurologist and neurosurgeon both tell me the twitching is completely unrelated to the TN. I am not sure what is causing the issue but it started the day after my car wreck. My triggers that make the twitching worse are, flashing or flickering lights, stress, looking at a computer or phone to long, bright lights. I have found that resting my head througout the day and rubbing my temple area helps a little bit.

I found a specific vein in between my upper nasal passage and eye that when pressed immediately reduces my symptoms. Mine is also caused by demeyliation of my nerve after trauma and I guess that little vein is throbbing right on it or something but when my vision gives out because of migraines/checkbone temple pain, that little vein is a huge culprit!

Perhaps you have some overlapping trouble with your facial nerve/7th cranial nerve, the offending nerve in geniculate neuralagia. GN patients often experience pain and pressure in the eye. I have that with a creepy crawly sensation, as though I have worms in my eye. X

Thanks LC, sound like our triggers our somewhat the same, but my pain is like a sharp poking in and above the eye. My husband usually rubs my head until I fall asleep. Unfortunately he's not here 24/7, so I then take more meds. At least you know what caused yours. I have no idea.

Wow, it seem trauma has caused TN quite a bit. They treated me for migraines for a while, when I would go to the ER. Even though I told them this was worst than a migraine. It's so interesting getting different feedback, really glad I joined the group.

Thanks Minty Green

Hi Somethingforkate, I'm going to look into this. I'm also most scared to, but I will. I have sarcoidosis which had affected my eye, now seems to be going into remission. No inflammation was found the last eye examine, but I'm on steroids to keep it down. So far so good. I'm going to look into the 7th cranial nerve and see where it leads me.

Thanks,

Guy1
