Pain goes up into eye from jawline, anyone else?

Just curious if anyone shares that symptom. From what I read TN usually is just the jaw and face, not neccesarily around/in eye area too.I have discussed with GP but it seems we are awaiting to see how well medication works.

I have had pain like that before. Not all the time though. It’s horrible.

Yes, my eye is affected by TN pain some days. I have TN pain that affects all three branches and has been mostly resistant to all treatment (so far ). I’m praying for healing for you :purple_heart:

Hi yes my pain travels around the eye, cheek and jaw. This often triggers a migraine. I find an electronic heat pad helps alongside carbamazepine tablets.

Look at an article titled " The Glossopharyngeal Nerve, Glossopharyngeal Neuralgia and the Eagles Syndrome by KBK SOH published in the Singapore Medical Journal in 1999, Vol40(10 )
Often Doctor’s diagnose Trgeminal Neuralgia b/c that is the one diagnosis code they know or have studied . GPN can involve the eye, the ear etc.
I have had horrendous eye pain and have to get Sphenopalatine Ganglion blocks or use a 2% TetracIne nasal spray ( compounded ) to block that nerve and help the eye pain . My OPTH also prescribes Acular …it’s a NSAID eye drop
Hope this helps

Google for a medical chart of the TN nerve, any branch of the nerve may be impacted which does include around the eye. I had to stop wearing contacts because TN2 makes my eye weep or can make it too dry. And if course there’s the pain.

There are so many similar symptoms being diagnosed separately; TN, the TAC’s, chronic migraines etc.

I was originally diagnosed with TN after decades of being ignored and now the thought process is that it is chronic migraines with the additions of hemicranea continua and SUNCT.

Have you discussed the possibility of Trigeminal Autonomic Cephalalgias with a neurologist?

Hi, what you’re feeling is quite normal for me. Sorry to tell you it’s part & parcel of the condition!!! Tegretol is very effective. I live in Dublin in Ireland, and am blessed with amazing doctors, who look after me. I was diagnosed aprox 14 years ago. I don’t allow it rule me, I rule it and get the help when I need it! Best of luck, and stay positive.

The eye area is part of the 1st branch, of the trigeminal nerve.

Yes, TN can have many manifestations but it would benefit anyone with Fanial Pain to read the article I mentioned
While older, it’s the best summary of GPN I have found
Again , many ( US) doctors are not aware of the diagnosis and reflexively diagnose TN for anyone with Facial Pain.

Yes, it’s horrible. Use some heat on that area and add a pill of your medicine.
