My mom just had her second rhizotomy last week but she's been getting attacks since yesterday. Is this normal? We are all supposed to travel back home tomorrow. Should we cancel our flight? Don't know what to do. Help. Advice please?
Please send a message to RED on here⦠ASAP. Call the doctor you saw for procedure!?
I am soo sorry that she is having pain so soon.
I TOTALLY agree with Kc Dancer that would have been my same advice!
If I can ask, what kind of Rhizotomy did your mama have? I have had 2 diffenent types, both with different outcomes.
All three kinds of Rhizotomy can be associated with temporary pain attacks that settle down in a few days. It's also possible that that the rhizotomy may not have been successful. I really can't make that distinction at a distance. But my advice would be not to cancel your flight until you have talked with the surgeon who did your procedure and heard his opinion.
Let us know how you come out on this, please.

I concur with Red take it easy and notify the Neurosurgeon and make sure she gets a follow up visit soon

Thank you so much guys. He replied and said that it's normal and expected and that we should go up with Tegretol for a few weeks. Hope it all goes well. It's going to be a LONG trip back home.
So glad that you were able to get intouch with the surgeon. Hoping ya'll have a safe and painless (for your mama) as possible and trip home -- please keep us up to date on how she is doing. Wishing her painfree days to come!!
Sincerely, Jodi
I had two radiofrequency procedures done. After the first one the pain was gone right away. The procedure lasted almost 2 years for me. The second one I had quite a bit of pain as soon as it was finished. I thought maybe it didn't work. The surgeon said it would gradually settle down and he was right. It took about 3 weeks or so for the pains to go away. I'm coming up on a year of being pain free. I hope your mom's pain goes away soon too, and I hope this was helpful.
