Hi Everyone.. I am new here. I'm in a lot of pain right now, but am lucky in that I tend to have long periods of remission. Now, however, is a tough time..
This flare up was triggered by dental work I had done last week (I am still partially numb and in tons of pain (tongue and teeth still numb on bottom).
The work is all done, but now I am having invisalign put on. Has anyone had this? Does the chronic shifting of teeth hurt everyday? I'm starting to get a little concernced since I don't want to pay 6000+ to be in pain :(
This is out of my field of knowledge, I do have a suggestion that you look at the top of the page and click on GROUPS and look for the one about Dental Issues and join and ask the members there if they have any knowledge to help you. I am getting a vibe that it could be a trigger.
Thank you, Jackie. As a side note, I've had MUCH relief the past 24 hours with dolobid. It's really rough on the stomach but not a pain med or habit forming and helped me with the pain.
Still feel it, but less severe-- thanks again for the link!
First may I say i understand i went thru the invisalign and braces and did help for awhile, It is very individual my dentist has removed all my mokars upper and lower on my affected side (left) only to be left with phantom tooth pain. He was not educated enough in this area and my mouth paid the price. I did have some discomfort intially with the invisalign but sound like your dentist or specialist knoes what you are dealing with. The shift is soso gradual . The discomfort may come from the appliance like mine did. I too spent the same amount of money 20 years ago. listen to your doctor he knows you best and good luck!
i cant speak to visalign but i did have braces as an adult ... the shifting of teeth bothered me for several days ... so much so that i wanted to rip them from my mouth !! ... eventually the discomfort stopped ... everyone's tolerance for pain is different ... i think mine is high BUT this tn is really kicking my butt ... i do not think i could stand the procedure you want to have while experiencing pain from tn ... heck, i cant even brush my teeth and i am worried about losing my teeth if i am not able to find a dentist who has experience with tn
Hi…I may be going the same route as you…and as you said investing that kind of money to only still suffer…I will be seeing a neuromuscular dentist… just another doctor or specialist to add to the list in two weeks who hopefully can give me some relief for my jaw issues…my bite has been off and I’m sure I will be in a orthotic for a few months followed by invisalign to correct my bite. I have looking for some sort of link as far as my jaw pain(tmd) and my Tn…it seems both were brought on by dental work…It will be interesting to see if by fixing my bite if I get a little relief with the tn attacks. I am very interested to see if the invisalign helps you. and yes the shifting of your teeth can be horrible…please keep us updated…
