Had a horrid August. Had to go back on Nortryptaline (sp) and Tegratol. Acupuncture no longer worked, but I keep going. Quickly stopped the Tegratol and cut the dosage of Nortyp down to 25 mg so I could at least keep running. The lightening bolts are show stoppers. I can only eat tiny bites the size of green peas on the right side of my face. Heat works a little to alleviate the pain. BUT, I managed to finish my first marathon in 6 hrs and 15 min. this weekend. No pain during the entire run and for a few hours afterward. Go figure.
I never went back to the doctor because she told me to quit running.
Congratulations on finishing your first marathon! I couldn’t even imagine running that far. And you know, I find that on days that I exercise (30 mins on an elliptical or bike…nothing too serious) my TN pain is a lot less. If I skip a few days though, watch out…the pain knocks me over and it takes a few days to calm down. I wonder if they’ve ever looked at a relationship between TN and exercise. Do try to find a new doctor though that will be more understanding of your interest in running AND work towards lessening your pain! Hope you are having a pain free day!
