I couldn't take the pain anymore, and finally tried the neurontin...releif at last after the first 100mg dose! I don't think I could tolerate solid food, and I feel like a drank a bottle of wine, but the pain is probably a 4/10...tolerable! I guess if the meds worked, then it truly was TN. There was a part of me that was hoping it was a mistake, that it really was my teeth. Now work tomorrow, that should be interesting! Here's hoping that tonights dose lasts through the day tomorrow and I don't have to take it during the day. I can't beleive I got releif after one dose!
I'm glad your pain level went down.!!!!!
Sometimes to kill it all, you need to add the lidocane or Klonopin in spurts -- some are llucky to get relief by one method only though!
Keep Posting!
I actually also took 1/2 of my prescribed 0.5mg Klonopin, so I guess I can't give the Neurontin all the credit, but the Klonopin on its own wasn't working, just making me tired. It's really hard to say what is working when you are trying so many cocktails of meds, to find what is working for you. I'm just so excited to not have so much pain, I had to share with my friends here. Other people just don't get it! Thanks for your reply, it's nice to be able to share our victories, no matter how small, along with our woes.
So glad you have found some relief! Sometimes we don't know how bad we were feeling until we're feeling better. Hope it continues in the right direction. Helpful to know what's working for others, too...TFS
Good Luck with work today, so glad you got some relief x
The half life of neurontin in the blood stream is a few hours, Catherine. If you feel your pain levels creeping up, you may need to continue at the prescribed dose.

Thank you all for your thoughts and well wishes! I made it through work, a little tired, but alert (as far as I know). The pain crept back, but only when I pushed the limits, like aggressively brushing my teeth (god it felt good to have a good brushing). I was actually able to eat a little solid food, but started to hurt. I know I need to take it (the Neurontin) 3 times a day as prescribed, but this was a good balance for me. After refusing the meds, and trying to tough out the pain, today was incredible only having a little pain! It gives me hope that I can manage this thing!
Catherine-
your case sounds a lot like mine. I also was SO hoping it was dental & not TN. but the neurontin really helped me, too. so glad you’re doing much better. I’m not there yet, but I look forward to the day I can eat solid food & really brush my teeth. amazing how you get thankful for such little things. great news!
