Hoping for decent news

So I've been living the past month or so, I can't remember how many weeks now, taking a pill every 5 hours or so to keep the pain from coming. It works for the most part, but lately I have statred getting twinges again while eating etc. I think they might be caused by me failing to faithfully take a pill every 5 hours, as when I sleep in I tend to miss the schedule and often during the day I can't remember when exactly I took my last pill so it spaces out a bit.

I submitted my info and required scans to the Gamma Knife clinic here in Toronto at the Western Hospital I think, and am hopefull that they can approve me for further testing/review to get the procedure done. I worry that my papers do not mention that I am on pills full-time now to keep the pain away, and that they might think it's not so bad and deny me the procedure. If that happens I'll have to go back to my doctor and decide what to do next, as I clearly can't live with constant drugging my whole life. I have also got some kind of infection i think on my left side next to a tooth in the gums. I can't see anything but feel it, and since I'm doped on Carbamazepine and still feel it, I know it must be viral. Lets hope it goes away, as eating isn't fun anymore when you can't really chew on either side without pain hahaa.

We'll see the outcome from the Gamma Centre I suppose. They review on Mondays, and won't be able to review my case until the 16th, so I do hope for the best.

I was just reading more on the site and am thinking maybe I should actually look into MVD surgery instead? I was against it due to the actual surgery part, but reading about gama knife surgery and how they screw bolts into your skull makes it sound a bit invasive anyway hahaa, and the more permanent MVD results might last longer than whatever the gamma knife does. I don't know what to do. Maybe I can just wake up and no longer need any meds and be fine.

Wierd how you can wake up one day and have this pain, while living your life previously without any indication it would come about. Perhaps then it can go away at a moment's notice. Let's hope for everyone that it can :)

Be prepared for an avalanche of replies from the group. Be certain you really have a tooth problem. Many of us have lost teeth because of bad diagnosis. It is a common symptom of Trigeminal Neuralgia. Many dentists misdiagnos the cause of the pain. Ask your Dentist about TN or Atypical TN before any work on that tooth.

Now, prepare yourself for the community response.

Oh haha Bill, I think I may have confused you and in turn, you confused me!

I have Tn already on my right side, and take many pills (carbamazepine) for it daily, usually about 1 every 5 hrs. The tooth thing was just soreness around the gum area around a tooth on my left side. It feels like a gum infection. I'm pretty sure it's viral and isolated from the TN.

I do appreciate your concern and tips tho as when I was trying to get answers for my rediculous pain a few years ago on the right side, I almost had many root canals. Thankfully I didn't or else I would be many teeth short and still in pain.
