Hello.
Does anyone know of any pressure points or home remedies to relieve the pain?? Thus far the lower branch is affected. The medication hasn't kicked in yet and I am petrified of another night like the last few...
Thank you.

Thank you.
Either lidocaine viscous inside the mouth or Orajel (benzocaine) can numb the pain for up to an hour, hopefully long enough for you to fall asleep.
Some people have found relief with ice or heat, and some people do better sleeping in an upright position.
Good luck!
I’ve taken to putting my heating pad in a pillow case to help protect my skin and fall alseep laying my face on the heating pad.
It seems to be a rather touchy subject here but cannabis, if nothing else, will help you sleep. Look for a heavy indica strain. You definitely do not need to smoke it, vaporizing works great. If you have access to quallity mediables (aka pot brownie or other foods infused with cannabis) they really take the edge off the pain and eventually make me sleepy. You can google how to infuse your own cooking oil to make your own mediablles or I’m happy to help, just ask.
I have to sleep sitting up. I alternate cold and hot on my face (neither of which truly works). i have to keep my eyes and mouth open. i try squeezing pressure points on my hands (between thumb and index finger), but i'm not sure if that truly works or just distracts me for a minute. I also spend a lot of time reading this message board... again, probably more for distraction.

Oh yes, distraction therapy can work wonders. In the early days pre-diagnosis, I would go days without sleep because the pain was so bad. The only way I could get some sleep was putting on some soothing instrumental music and focusing on listening to every note of it. If you focus enough, your brain shifts attention away from the pain and you don’t feel it as much.
Toothache, THANK GOD they gave me additional medications, in addition to the initial Epitol 200 mg (generic of Carbamaepine). One is Gabapentin 300 mg twice daily, the other is six day course of Methyprednisone, 4mg. The latter two were prescribed on my trip toward Richmond, VA. I stopped in two towns to pick them up. I told the doctor there was no way I could endure another night without sleep and that excruciating pain.
I am very happy to report that I have not had that pain and am able to sleep! What an amazing feeling!!

Ive been trying to use Aspercreme with lidocane on my jaw joint so far its hard to tell. It does help some i believe but sometimes when i try something new i cant tell if its the "HOPE" thats working or the actual med. I think you know what I mean. Also trying GABA as a supplement to see if i get anything at all. Currently I only take 15mg of Oxy three times a day but that doesnt do much but keep me from pulling my hair out.
Klamber22, Have how many mg of Gaba? I did not hear of many people getting relief from Oxy. I am assuming you are referring to Oxycontin? The Epitol did NOTHING for me... WHen they gave me the Gaba 300mg and the course of Methylprednisone, my pain went away. I PRAY it stays away!
I have had 4 recent treatments by an acupuncturist. When I asked him, he has given me acupressure points to use. On my hands arms and feet and legs. he puts a tiny Band-Aid with a very tiny metal ball bearing thing on it for me to use on these points. I think they may possibly help a little, but it is hard to tell because I have also been increasing my Tegretol level.
I got my MRI results back. Haven't seen the neurologist since my initial visit, however, results say my right trigeminal nerve was swollen. I hope that means the methylprednisone took care of the TN. .. The MRI was prior to all the meds , except the Epitol. As soon as I get back from this trip I hope to see him. I hope I can get off of these meds.... I'm exhausted and am eating up a storm.
