Im new as of today. Came to seek some help or suggestions. I live in Colorado, where the wind is really high and pretty cold today. I have just been recently diagnosed with TN, after a really rough few months. I am not new to pain, as I have Fibromayalgia and 4 hernisted discs in my back. But as you well know, this pain is different. I am currently at work as a hairstylist, and suffering terribly.. I am currently already on 400 Tegretol a day. Any suggstions for my pain, and also my sanity?
I assume your pain is triggered by movement of air on your face? There are at least two factors in getting this under control. One of them is tapering up your meds to a level that reduces your pain overall. Then, if you're still having problems with triggers, you may need a face scarf whenever you are outside in the breeze. Sanity may also be promoted by taking a number of other steps in your life that are described in our article "Coping With Crisis". See the Face Pain Info tab in the menu abaove.
I fully agree with Red. I live on the top of a hill in a very windy cool town so I empathise. The wind gets onto the side ofmy face and especially my ear and boy does my head " scream". As Red says you may need a stronger dose, 400g is not that high. A scarf does help. Anything that creates a barrier helps me. Even the back of my hand helps.
I will sure give it a try. I just wish the meds didn't make me feel so "ou tof it".
It does usually improve as the body acclimates.
My mother in law gets it terrible when the wind hits it. She always has a scarf over her face, and she uses capsacian (spelling?) on the nerve root. She swears by it. (She uses tegretol as well). Good luck!
Thank you all for your help! Im doing much better today after sleeping fifteen hours straight. God bless!
