My tooth that has been sensitive intermittently for three years (my dentist said a year ago that it looked OK) has been acting up for about a week and is bad tonight. I notice my left cheek TN pain (aching and burning) is bad when the tooth hurts. Tooth causing cheek pain, I guess, as it started after the tooth started hurting. Guess I will have to go to the dentist, which I dread. I've got some OroJel on the tooth which isn't helping too much but my cheek really is numb and hurts. A hot rice bag isn't really helping. I took a Xanax to knock myself out. ANY PAIN RELIEF TRICKS FOR A TOOTHACHE/CHEEK PAIN? God almighty, if people only realized how lucky they are just to be able to go to the dentist!!!
Ice doesn’t help. I’m going to put a warm rice bag on it again. Can’t get into see the dentist until Monday morning, they are giving me an antibiotic and Vicodin (which has made me throw up in the past!). Maybe an infected tooth. I’m supposed to take a Xanax before going there, they may use gas on me, maybe along with novicane. I’m not taking any medicine for my TN now. The descent into hell continues…
I have an infected tooth and a root canal next Tuesday. I could hardly stand to have the dentists fingers in my mouth today. Am on antibiotics and Percocet. This tooth has been bothering me for four years, before the TN acted up bad. Just one-quarter of a Percocet helps. Maybe it is just my tooth, I hope so!
Susan - I can totally relate to you. My back left molar pretty much hurts all the time. If the pain increases in my tooth, I can be assured that my face pain will increase. One thing you might try is peppermint tea. Afterward, take the teabag and wedge it between your cheek and gum and it very well may reduce the pain.
