Has anyone traveled out of state to see Dr. K. Casey?

I was just wondering if anyone traveled out of state to see Dr. Casey?? If so, what was the time frame of all to see him or will he review your medical records to see if he could even help? I feel this is the last step for me. I have had 2 MVD and 2 CN and worse now than ever. There has to be more that can be done. Not willing to accept this to be “my life”.

I traveled 18 hours from ND to see him. I corresponded first with him via email and completed several forms for him and answered his questions. My doctors also sent him info and I had an MRI sent to him. He said he would set it up so I would see him one day and the next day or two I would have the surgery, then stay 1 1/2 to 2 days in the hospital and 3 more in town. If all went well, I could leave after that. He tries to do that for out of town patients so it's not so expensive. He had made up his mind I think before I ever got here and only would have changed it if he found something that made him think the surgery wouldn't help me. I am still in Trenton waiting to go home but should be able to tomorrow after my surgery last Thursday.

How you are feeling after your surgery?

My story similar…only had tn fully for 1 year… Hated meds… Emailed him for a more local surgeon…my neuro here said he would not have it done by anybody here…so Casey said he would consult me by email…sent me pain questionnaire … McGill pain inventory…got my records and I flew there.

2 days pre op. stayed in affordable hospital

Sponsored apartment…2 bed 2 bath $ 95 nite 20 min away from hospital…with hubby and Adult daughter

I had my consultation

1 night in ICU

1 nite reg hosp. Room

1 night back at apartment…

Then spent 2 days driving home to Missouri…I slept 20 hrs day while traveling.

2 years later 95 %. Better and use lidocaine patches to KILL the other 5% pain.

He’s the best on the planet…he will know what options you have!

There are others who have traveled from other countries to get him.

That’s interesting. Thank you for the replies. I pray so much that he can help me. I left his office a message today. I will keep everyone informed on what happens. I’m going to see ophthalmologist in the morning. I’m having a lot of problems with my vision on my TN side. It’s very blurry at times. It changes all the time.

so sorry you are going through this and not getting relief... prayers to you that Dr. Casey can help-- I have heard that John Hopkins in Baltimore is good too...where did you have your MVD's done?? (if you don't mind telling) did they have any idea why they didn't work?? seems like you should be able to sue them if they messed you up some how!!

Donna, I live in Wisconsin and saw him last Fri, going back next Wed the 24 for MVD. I sent him all my medical records ahead of time and he sent emailed me a couple forms to fill out. I really liked him, he’s very thorough and easy to talk to. Good Luck!

Hey Donna,
I flew to consult with him at the end of last year. He corresponded via email and was always available to answer questions. It was a really easy process and he was amazingly nice and its easy to get an appointment with him. My concern was not having a good support system since I live in NYC. I actually am putting off the surgery as I was experiencing less pain, but now reconsidering it again. Good luck!

Dr Casey’s office called today and I am going to email Dr to start the process. With having 2 previous MVDs, I hope he can help. I won’t know unless I ask!!

Tacocat, I had my MVD in Arlington,TX with a neurosurgeon that is well experienced in TN. I no longer have pain in lower teeth but that is the only relief I got. I was his first fail MVD patient according to him. Go figure…

Thanks for all the responses !

Good luck Donna! I really hope he has some insight and hope to offer you!
(( hugs)) let us know how it all goes…Mimi xx

I don’t think I mentioned that I had him do my MVD while in remission!
