I am on Tegretol 300 - 400 mg daily; I have noticed also more than normal hair loss after I wash my hair especially...I have longer thick hair and have just thought it might be because of the weight / length. That might be part of it, but I have thought also it might be the meds too (part of the side effect list)...not sure what to do about it --- ...
I am really concerned about it. My hair was long and very thick. All of a sudden when I brushed my hair it started coming out in hand fulls. I looked up the side effects and most of the anticonvulsants say that hair loss is one of them. Over time I am afraid I will loose all my hair. I don't know if there is anything to take ( vitamin, etc ) to help.

I have had hair loss since I started on any kind of anticonvulsant. I had it on neurontin and now on Lyrica. I just read a long discussion/forum on Lyrica side effects and almost all the reviews reported hair loss with Lyrica. If my hair gets any thinner, I will be bald!!! People also reported that the hair does not grow back after stopping Lyrica. Pain and hair loss - aren't we lucky. No where on the drug company's list of side effects do they mention hair loss. Drug companies never reveal all the side effects of a drug.
Oh dear....that is what I was concerned about....that all of them caused hair loss. I have bought special shampoo and conditioner for thinning of hair; but do not know if it works yet....to soon to tell. I wonder if there is any supplement that would help the hair to grow? I empty my vacumn cleaner after I vacumn each room just to see how much hair I have collected. It is horrible. Huge amount. HELP

Cheryl - My hairdresser keeps giving me new stuff to help "thicken" my hair etc. Finally, I just cut my hair to below chin length and it still looks so thin. No amount of thickeners and blow drying and curling helps it. Sorry, wish I had some optimism for you. I have decided that I would rather have thin hair than the pain. So, I will sacrifice my hair for my pain. I have sacrificed alot of other things too, but pain is pain. Just don't want the pain.
