hi i had a mvd done 5 months ago in new york. it did not work for me. i owe the hospital 3,000 dollors. i am in collections. i cant afford to pay it off. i am only paying them 10.00 a month. i am suppossed to go see the neruosurgen end of october, to see what the next plan is. but i dont know if i should go because if he was to do a different procedure would my insrance even pay for it? that is being in collections that is. if anyone knows if they would allow me to have another procedure knowing that i already owe that much money. can you please respond tho this disscusion? thanks so much michelle

Ask if the hospital took any federal Hill-Burton Act funds. If they did, ask to be considered for the free care they must give as a condition of this grant money. Good luck, and years ago when I worked for a dentist, we had a family that owed > $2,000 and religiously paid $10 a month. If that's all you can afford, are they going to squeeze blood out of a turnip, as my mom used to say?
