Neurosurgeons

i have been to an out of town hospital for a new neuro consult, this DR tells me feel i need to see neurosurgeon. NOW JUST WHAT ARE MY

OPTIONS? WILL THIS DR TELL ME WHAT TYPE OF SURGERY I NEED OR DO I NEED TO DO MY HOMEWORK AND FIND OUT WHAT SURGERY I MAY WANT?

Ive been on here for 4 years… 3 of them in remission!
had awesome surgeon!

I would see if you can get an appt. With a TN. Surgeon in Gainsville
… They should lead you to MVD surgery… Unless slim chance there is a reason not to.

You have to get the best you can! Look at tabs above for doctors we suggest.

You have TN 1

The BEST. Long term treatment for it is an MVD.

TN is progressive…I’m glad your neuro pointed you the right way,!

95% + rates for long term success with MVD + best surgeon!.

Most here who are in remission do not come here any more! : )

IF you were to have to do any other surgery types before an MVD,

Then, your MVD later on…Chances then slip into lower success numbers.

If you have any questions of my journey…

Feel free to email me at. ■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■

TN AND Meds ruined my life for one year… Then i RAN to the operating table. I am 51.

Im coming to the panhandle in two weeks! I need some sand !

PS. MVD is cranial surgery…not brain. Two nights in the hospital, and about 2 weeks in bed.

Here to give you hope. : )

What Kc dancer Kc said .And yes, do your homework, it will give you confidence in your decision. Good luck

I had an MVD two weeks ago after being diagnosed in spring of 2006. I did fine the first 5 years on rather low doses of meds, but the last 3 years were a struggle. In hindsight, I believe it would have been best to have the MVD much sooner. Even so, I'm doing great and very excited about getting my life back! Best of luck to you...

WILL AFTER 1,000 MILES AND SOME MONEY I DID NOT HAVE I HAVE SEEN 2 DOCTORS AND THEY BOTH AGREE THAT THE MVD SURGERY WOULD DO ME GOOD. HOW EVER I DO HAVE INSURANCE BUT FOUND IT IS NOT ENOUGH, I STILL NEED $2500, FOR COPAY TO DOCTOR AND HOSPITAL. NEEDLESS TO SAY I LEFT THERE CRYING MY EYES OUT!!!!! I WAS TOLD I WAS OUT OF NETWORK WHICH WAS PART OF THE COST. THE OTHER WAS HOSPITAL COPAY. THEY WERE NOT WILLING TO MAKE PAYMENT ARRANGEMENTS FOR ME. I AM SO SAD OF THE FIGHT I HAVE BEEN UNDER TO GET THINGS DONE. MY ORIGINAL MD OF NEUROLOGY SENT ME TO THE OTHER DOCTORS , I ASKED DID THE TAKE MY INSURANCE. GUESS I WAS LIED TO. ALSO I HAVE BEEN OF WORK SINCE OCT. 10,2014 TOLD NOT TO COME BACK UNTIL I COULD TALK RIGHT. I AM A UNIT SECRETARY IN A HOSPITAL, THAT DOES NOT OFFER MVD PROCUDURE. THE LOCAL NEUROLOGIST HAS BEEN SLOW ABOUT ALL MY NEEDED PAPER WORK FOR REFERRAL AND TO GET A OUT OF WORK CLAIM TO MY JOB. GOD KNOWS I AM TRYING TO UNDERSTAND ALL OF THIS.

WOW! I am so sorry for your plight… Can you get short term disability paycheck from work?

Will you have a tax return coming
that can cover the cost that you will need?

Keep posting here… Maybe somebody else has some ideas

I am sorry you are going through this. Dealing with insurance/financial issues is so stressful. A couple thoughts… don’t give up about the payment plan option. See if you can enlist the help of your doctor’s office to advocate on your behalf.

The open enrollment period for insurance is coming up soon. Check with someone about changing insurance companies. Since you now have insurance, there should not be a pre-existing condition waiting period.

My sister-in-law is an insurance broker. I did not have insurance. She discovered that I could get a catastrophic policy for one month, then switch to Humana, which covered my recent out-of-state MVD in-network. The deductible is about $4,000. The bills are still coming in, so I do not know what the total will be. I am hoping they will set up a payment plan. If not, I am blessed to have amazing family members who will help me. They understood that at this point, an MVD was necessary if I am ever going to work again.

Beg, borrow, sell stuff, pray hard… do what you need to do to get back on your feet. And as many on here will attest, finding an experienced surgeon is critical!!

Don’t give up. I’m sure there is a solution.

Hi

My job made me apply for short term disability when I first got sick but when it became apparent that I wasn't going to be coming back they told me to file for long term disability. The next day they fired me so then I elegible for Medicaid and it has paid for everything I needed until my medicare and AARP kicked in. So go to your human resources and ask them about your short term disability. You have earned so you need to use it. Then you can go from there, just make sure you keep up with all your paperwork and dates. You may need them later if you go for perm disability.

HI JRULZ1, THANKS FOR THE INFO. YES I DO HAVE SHORT TERM DISABILITY, IT HAS NOT PAID YET EVEN WITH IT BEING 30 DAYS TODAY. I GOT AN E-MAIL SAYING I WAS APPROVED AND ENDED THE SAME DAY THE E-MAIL CAME. SAYING THERE NEEDS TO BE ANOTHER UPDATE WITH MORE INFO. I GET IT THAT THEY WANT TO BE SURE I AM SEEING A DOCTOR REGULAR AND THAT THE DOCTOR IS WORKING TOWARDS A SOLUTION TO THE PROBLEM. I SAW MY MD. YESTERDAY GAVE HIM AN EARFUL ABOUT HOW THE OFFICE TOLD ME THE REFERRAL MD. / HOSPITAL TOOK MY INSURANCE BUT WHEN I GOT THERE IT WAS A DIFFERENT STORY., I GOT AN APOLOGY, HOPE IT DOESN'T HAPPEN AGAIN. MY DOCTOR IS CONFUSING ME HE TOOK THE LYRICA AWAY FROM ME (THEY GAVE ME SAMPLES) BECAUSE THE COPAY COST WAS $300.00 FOR A 30 DAY SUPPLY; WHICH I COULD NOT PAY. HE THEN PUT ME ON CYMBALTA, I AM SO AFRAID THAT I AM HEADED BACK TO THE INTENSE PAIN I HAD BEFORE THE LYRICA. THE LYRICA DID HELP IT JUST DIDN'T TAKE IT AWAY.

EVERYONE THANKS FOR YOUR THOUGHTS AND ENCOURAGEMENT. I AM HAVING A ROUGH DAY TODAY, PAIN AND I HAVE 21 YEAR OLD NIECE HERE TO HELP ME BUT SHE IS GROWING BORED WITH IT ALL. I DO NOT BLAME HER. DRIVING HER AUNT AROUND EVERY DAY CAN GET BORING IF YOU ARE 21. LOL

Did i mention to call your doctor…primary…whomever

Hsve them call in for you lidocaine cream for your face!

Thanks KcDancer Kc I READ YOUR POST SO TODAY I GOT ME SOME LIDOCAINE CREAM
