Got sodium level tested... toooooo low

well, today i found out my sodium levels are even lower than they were when i got admitted into the hospital for sodium being too low. :frowning: my neuro has a call in to my primary care to talk to her about admitting me, or getting me on salt tablets or what. he still wants me to keep taking trileptal so the pain doesn’t come back. maybe i’ll go buy some sports drinks.

i’ll keep my blog posted.

just found out what they want me to do. Drink less water and salt my food. I’ll get retested in a couple of days. they will admit me if i don’t get my salt back up. :frowning:

just drink less fluids and salt my food. that’s it!

will do. i have to get my blood retested on friday, so i’ll find out on tuesday if i’m better or not. (results will be back by monday, but my doc doesn’t work in the office on mondays, so he can’t interpret them) thnaks for checking on me!

Hi Steph,

Hope you are feeling okay. Do low blood sodium levels make you feel bad? I hope not!

I know I just got the test result on my baseline test the value was 143 and it said normal is 135-145mEq/L. I have absolutely no idea what that means but I guess I am normal on one thing in my life anyway  .

Get to the hospital if you need to before Tuesday.

they don’t make me feel bad at all! mine when i was put in the hospital last month was 131. last week when i got my blood tested i was 123. Congrats on being normal!!

i will go to the hospital if i need it, i promise. i don’t want to have a seizure, which is why i’m eating salt and drinking very little, and what i am drinking is gatorade. does one feel seizures coming on? i have no clue.

My Mother suffered from very low sodium levels too. It turned out be caused by a benign tumour growing on a lymph gland in my mothers abdomen. She had to take salt tablets for about a year after they removed the gland and now it’s all dietary control. Mum also got diverticulitis (I’m unsure of the spelling).

I hope it all gets under control Stephanie.

Best Wishes ~ Kerry (Ko)

Hi Ro, yeah, that’s why I was put in the hospital. Cuz the ER doc didn’t want me to have a seizure. I read about them the other day. No, I’ve never had a seizure, praise God. Sounds incredibly scary. Oh Ro, I’m sooo sorry you have to go through so much pain. :frowning: I’m prayin for ya.

Hi Kerry!
a tumor causing low sodium… interesting! i asked if i should just take salt tablets, but they didn’t suggest it at all. Your poor Mum!! :frowning: Thanks for your wishes and comments!

s

Thank, Ro! I’m workin on gettin well. Yes, one step at a time. Right now it’s controlling ME, but soon, I will control IT!

Don’t know about the onset of siezure feelings. It sounds like you are taking good care of yourself.

My head feels full of cotton from the Lyrica. Definitely cannot focus on my job.

Please check in tonight or tomorrow.

Thanks, Teresa :o) You are a great friend. I’m so sorry about the stuffy feeling from the Lyrica. I know EXACTLY how you feel. I was on 900mg a day of Lyrica and i was confused and couldn’t find words i wanted to say/write, and it was bad. i’m on 600m now and i’m on 1200mg of trileptal, so it’s notMuCH better, but some. Does it make you do things like that? Like, i would look at a chair or something, and not be able to come up with the word chair. i could describe it, but the actul word would elude me completely. How is your pain?

Not doing well right now. Need to blog it on my post where I’m keeping track of pain post surgery. Hope you do better tomorrow (today when you read this).

Hang in there.

I am feeling okay today. I know exactly what you mean about not being able to grasp the word you are looking for. My neuro told me that anything over 600 mg is too much. I am glad you are doing better on 600mg.

I really hope you are doing better now. What are you doing up and on the computer at 3:00 am??!!! I am so sorry that this is keeping you up like that. I am glad you are getting a little relief from the duiladid. I did not know that was used outside of a hospital setting. I hope it helps you to get some sleep. My roommates mother had low sodium and feels bad because of it. Tired and unbalanced. My roommate and I went grocery shopping and she was buying a box of salt for her mother. So strange that should come up at the same time as your salt issue.

Keep us posted please. Keep praying! I am so praying the GKS works for you eventually.

Thanks, T. I really appreciate the prayers so much. I am SO praying for you too! It’s funny that you said I just read this cuz I just got done praying for you and sarah and Ro. My neuro thinks over 600mg is too much too. I’m so glad you’re feeling better today. i called you and left you a vmail, wondering if your stupiid fake neurosurgeon doc called about finding a specialist. letmme know.

i was up on the computer at 3 cuz of my pain in my left side again. It was super bad last night. The dilaudid helped, but not til i took quite a bit of it. ugh.

That’s really intenresting about your roommates mother. good to know about how she feels becuase of it. i’ve been wondering about the symptoms from it. If i’m tired and unbalanced, it’s been cuz of the meds, so I don’t know if I’d notice a difference. a box of salt?! that’s hilarious. and sad. :frowning:

Thanks again for worrying. You are a great friend. I wish we could get together some time, but since we both don’t drive… :frowning:

hang in there!
