Hi everyone,
I wanted to share my good news that I was approved for SSDI. It was my first application, it took about 5 months, two of their doctors...a medical doc and a psychologist that gave me horrid memory tests.
I really didn't think I had a good chance. I have a master's degree, I have a strong work history.
I wish I knew why my application was approved when so many of us have major problems getting SSDI. The things I did have going for me: My neurologist supported me and has been the same person since the start in 2007. I also have moderate psoriatic arthritis (I can still move around ok) and fibromyalgia (which the SSDI doc didn't even check!).
I used a sort of 'cheat sheet' for the many questions on the Function Report and the Pain Assessment. The cheat sheet let me know what SSDI was looking for, to answer the questions as I would be on my worst days and to use detail and examples to show the limitations in my Activities of Daily Living. It also re-asked a number of their questions in a way that made it easier for me to understand. I spent hours and days working on it, but it is also THE reason they decided to do the memory testing.
Anyway, I know we all need some good news once in awhile! If I can answer any questions, I will try my best. I'm attaching my cheat sheet, if you are interested. I wish I could give credit to the website where I found it, but, as usual, I can't remember!
Thanks all for the support that you give everyday!
Pam
