Goggles/Sunglasses too tight irritating my TN?

This is a theory of mine so let me know what you think. I work outside all day and almost every time I wear glasses that compress tightly on the side of my head I have a 10+ TN pain that night or next day. Could my glasses be adding to my TN problem? I also experience a strange feeling that things are slowing down and it becomes hard to think when I start my journey to 10+ pain. Mine is always across my forehead back thru my left eye. It then becomes a race with Gabapentin and Tramadol additional pills but they just cant seem to catch up. I relate my pain to a Diesel Locomotive thats coming and you cant stop it. At last resort I take Butorphanol which makes your entire body go numb inside and out and no more pain. I have only had about 8 of these "Super Bad" days in the last year. I have had many minor days where pain slips thru my daily meds. I have a lot of good days where I feel normal. Since I am new here I just wanted to see if I am the norm for TN.

5 years prior suffered massive headaches

misdiagnosed for 5 years and treated for sinus problems

Oct. 2011 diagnosed after 4 days in hospital

Meds of mainly Epitol 400MG and Gabapentin 300MG daily

Hi Tommy,

I’ve read of many group members here who have a hard time wearing glasses due to TN.

I’ve never heard of Butorphanol, could’ve used something like that today. ; )

You’ll find although we all share some similarities with TN, we’re also uniquely different.

Welcome to the Group!

Mimi

Hi Tommy
I also have a terrible time with glasses, and also any type of hat. The day after wearing any of them ,for even the shortest amount of time, is always a bad one pain wise.
This is a frustrating disorder, and although I am sorry you have it, I am glad you got a diagnosis and joined this group. It is a great resource, with so many caring and informative members!

Hi Tommy,

It sounds like you went through the typical run around with trying to get properly diagnosed. Oh yes, I can agree, sunglasses still hurt and headbands are a thing of the past. If you see from my profile pic I was in a headband everyday cuz they were easy and I like easy. Now I hate doing my hair. Not that you have to worry about using headbands, but its more of an example that yes, they do effect your TN. And I do find that my TN does act up more at night, but I have read alot of ppl that say the same. I'm still not sure what causes that. This website is the best medicine and doctor in one. I feel I get alot more help from ppl on here then Dr.s who are well paid in this field. Lots of luck.

Hi Tommy, I have to wear glasses and they seem to be alright but if a put a headband on my head - woops - have to snatch if off immediately. It definitely aggravates the TN.
