When my eyes/cheeks hurt bad, my lymph nodes hurt and swell. I’ve told three doctors this, two didn’t care and one told me that the body responds to any inflammation with lymph node pain and swelling. This is what happened two years ago when I had bad IBS, gastritis and ulcers. My question is, does this happen to anyone else? Also, is the lymph node pain due to the body trying to fight off the virus, or is it just a general reaction to the pain?
Hello Again Kim - saw my doctor again today and am going off Gabapentin due to side effects. Am switching to regular Gaba, then can add Lyrica. I am interested in the astragulus for inflammation, I wonder if I can use that with Gaba or should take it alone? Or with Lyrica? WHERE IS OUR TELETHON??? HA!!! I have swelling around my right eye when my sinuses are acting up, but both eyes are usually sore to the touch right in the middle where the nerve comes down. I would willingly give up a limb to get rid of the pain.
Thanks Kim, I will look into that. Interesting about your nerve pain, I also have pins/needles in my feet, occasionally my legs, sometimes my hands and arms. I know my throid is low so am slowly increasing medicine there. I am also super sensitive to noise, music, a bunch of people and lights around (like a casino) but I thinks its from being socially isolated for so long. I will check out the astragalus at the vitamin store. Maybe I should clean all the Gabapentin out of my system, clean out for a few days, then try the herb along with vitamins. My eyes are better with the Gabapentin, but I just can’t stand those side effects. Maybe Gaba and astraglus together? I also take a vitamin pill, B complex, fish oil, calcium and vitamin D, probiotic, blood pressure medicine and thyroid medicine. Oh for the old days when all I needed was an occasional Excedrin!! Did you mention you had Epstein-Barr virus? I had that almost 30 years ago!!! I also had interstitial cystitis in my bladder 30 years ago, but that is much much better now. I think we are both dealing with immune disorders, but no doctor has had any interest in doing any further testing of my immune system, nothing shows up irregular in regular blood tests. My neurologist wants me to have lymph system massages, I will start next week to try to move things along and help with the pain. Have you had these? Are they painful? My lymph nodes hurt so I am not really looking forward to it!

Hi Sue, I noticed within 72 hours of beginning astragalus that my pain was less, a lot less so over the past months I have reduced my other meds. I researched astragalus and it has no side effects and won't intefere with Lyrica and similar drugs. I have also noticed that since using astragalus that my nerve pain around my eyes is slowly getting better. My eyes are still tender, especially right across the bridge but even that pain is becoming more "shallow" it doesn't feel as deep. I have been totally blown away that an herb for 10.00 a bottle can help so much more than the prescribed rounds. It cleared up the fog -migraine headaches and helps with the neuropathies in my legs. I was on Gaba for several months and my blood pressure would become so low that I felt like a zombie. I hope you get relief from the astragalus, it's worth giving it a chance.
