Have been pinged my multiple people that have read that anyone suffering from a nerve disorder is on the priority list for getting flu shots meaning that TN suffers should get them.
Think the logic is that a large portion of our energy is consumed by fighting the TN pain and/or the side affects of the meds that our immune systems are suppressed (this would vary case by case of course) and therefore more susceptible to contracting the flu virus during this time period.
Note I didn't look up sites to reference this other than CDC which states the following "— Adults age 25 through 64 who have underlying medical conditions, such as heart or respiratory illness, diabetes, or other conditions that suppress their immune system"
This is such excellent advice. I've always been afraid of what I hear from people who say the flu shot will make you sick...
In the past 2 and a half months, I've had two sinus/ear infections and stomach flu. My immune system is shot, I don't stand a chance. I work in a high traffic area and everyone comes in sick instead of staying home. This last infection episode went into my lymph nodes and taking antibiotics wreaks disaster on my digestive tract. I use clorox wipes and anti-bacterial gel over and over every day, but I can't stay healthy.
I had to ask for unpaid time off this round because all my vacation and sick time are used up. No sooner do I return to work from recovering than I catch whatever's floating around. I think my insurance pays for flu shots with Walgreens - thanks for the suggestion, good thinking.
