Fatigue would have to be a huge stressor for me in initiating attacks of this horrid neuralgia. Having both trigeminal and occipital has become a major problem for me in getting sleep.
I am unable to lay my head down on any surface, even if I’m laying my head down on the pain free side. This is sometimes also impossible as both conditions are bilateral.
The past few days, it has just been on the right hand side thank goodness. I’ve already made one trip to the ER yesterday morning (Australia time) and the staff I dealt with were nice and very understanding. Fingers crossed that when I go back there soon, that I receive the same staff or some just as considerate.
A short while ago - i felt that the pain had relented sufficiently for me to get some sleep. I could not have been more wrong. The act of laying still on my pain free side on the pillow was not enough to avert the instant and horrific return of all pain.
So, it looks like if I want to sleep - I must return to the ER once again. It is pouring rain outside, that also has been occuring for the same length of time that I’ve been in pain. Pain began the same day the rain did. My Mum is visiting me and is asleep in the spare room - as it’s 2:14 am. If I leave in this weather - I’m only gonna get wet having to go out and open the gate to the property. Regardless, I’m gonna have to go. So I’ll get dressed shortly ready to leave, and await a break in the rain if it occurs.
I just wanted to share what is happening with me now ~ Thanks for reading. I’m hoping (and looking forward) to getting some dates from my pain doc regarding my appointment to get pulsed radiofrequency done on both sides of my face. Hopefully, something can then also be done about the occipital pain as well. The difference with the pulsed version is that no damage is caused to the nerve, it merely stuns the nerve - but does require the treatment be repeated quarterly throughout the year.
Wish me luck!
Cheers to everyone here and I wish you an entirely pain free day!
