Effect of alcohol

I don't drink, well, I didn't until now. I have found the ONLY way I'm going to get to eat ANYTHING is with an ounce of hard liquor on top of the meds. I remembered they used to use alcohol to stop premature labor and wondered if it might help with this (to eat anyway). I waited until last night to try it and sure enough, it was the first time I was able to eat more than 3 bites at a time in days (bites the size of a dime or less btw).

I'm not saying everyone should try it. I don't even know if that's what helped. I'm trying it again to see since I haven't been able to eat yet today. I can only hope I don't have to rely on it for every meal (can't do that for several reasons). Just wondered if anyone else had a similar experience. Remember, my pain is mostly mouth\teeth triggered.

I have also had this experience. My pain is often localized in my upper teeth and eating is painful (I've lost over 10 pounds in the past few months). Strangely enough, alcohol does seem to help me but I always use it cautiously as most medications come with warnings against it.

I wish alcohol would help me but I get the most horrendous headache after just a sip. The Trileptal is making me so nauseous that it's getting harder to eat. I did get some lidocaine cream from my doc that you can use in the mouth and it made the pain in in the mouth go away.

Try to get your hands on some Rx Lidocaine Mouthwash
