Drooping?

After 10 days since diagnosis and 7 days on Tegretol, I notice I'm getting a little drooping on that side of my face as well as some numbness in my lip on that side. Is this normal?

Not for me, but I did have a rash on arms and legs. I was switched to trileptal, which is similar but fewer side effects. But definitely contact your doctor.

Hi

I didn't have drooping, but for the first few weeks on tegretol I had tingly/numb lips. Call your doctor, some are allergic reactions and some are side effects.

Best of luck

Amy

I agree with Maureen to follow up with your doctor. At around 7 days on carbamazepine I developed a body rash and swollen lymph nodes on my neck so I was changed to neurontin. I’ve been suffering since late June with TN but was only diagnosed 4 weeks ago. Neurontin helps some. Best wishes.

I had drooping and numbness on that side of my face. I described it as feeling like my face was sliding off my skull then numbness. I went quickly to the ER because I thought I was having a stroke. By the time I got there I could not talk or walk or even read simple words. I was scared to death. They did an MRI and compared it with the last one I had and said it was not a stroke. They never did tell me what it was but sent me hone when it stopped. My neurologist said it was possibly trigeminal autonomic cephalalgia. Of course I looked it up online and it is a type of cluster headache with symptoms that can mimic a stroke. Lucky me to have more problems with the trigeminal area! Anyway, it is important to have this checked right away because of the possibility of a stroke. Please see your doctor or go to the hospital.

Good luck and God bless!
