Hey you guys...I need your help. I have done Hcg diet in the past (last year) and lost about 45 lbs. Well...then TN...ugh. I gained almost 15 or so back and I was still not at my goal weight when all of this started; so NOW I have about 25 or so to loose!!! I have been doing this for about a week now and my pain levels have gone through the roof! I am now waking up at night with pain - NEVER did this in the past! Has anyone else has problems with trying to diet and their pain levels going haywire? I am concerned, as this is the best way "I" can loose the weight; but I am suffering so...thank you for you input!
Welcome Cris,
I have a regimen that will work for you if you stick with it...NOTHING WITH SUGAR!
Read the " govt. mandatory" nutrition labels on every food item when you shop for food. If an item has more than 3Grams of carbs, don't put it in your cart. Remember food items that are>than 3 Grams of Carbs... (you'll have this down within 1 week) are forbidden.
You can eat all the high-protein food and almost all the fats you want-and as much of them as you want...Here's the hard part: No starch-bread, french fries, pasta, rice, potatoes. The easy part: Any and all the meat and dairy (cheese-any, hard, medium or soft) as much as you want, eggs-as many as you can eat, meat, from hot dogs to filet Mignon, or fish:Pile it on your plate; milk cottage cheese, cream cheese, feta cheese
You just won't believe this at first...but a diet of fats and protein will really stick with you...4 hours later? No cravings because you're still satisfied. Fats and Protein foods SATISFY. You can nosh and snack on any dairy/meat.
Listen...When you have a 20 lb. weight loss in a month, and you think back and realize that life was good and you really didn't suffer, AND, you're obviously loosing pounds; life is great.
Email me any time about this and I'll help you out if you need support. I've had a great career and am now semi-retired. I don't need to know anything about you, beyond your email address. This regimen WORKS. You can do it from home with no trips to the gym (those may come in the future, but would be your call). LOW CARBS (complex carbs, like beans are fine)/NO SUGAR (sugar in fruit is fine). Alcohol? I'd suggest a red wine like "Cab" or Vodka/Gin . L, Rick
I am dieting too, but if anything I would say that my pain levels are going down. I am just trying to eat all natural everything. I am also going to go see a nutritionist to see what I could eat that would help my nerves I guess... I'm sorry you are having such a hard time with this, what are you eating?
Hi ladies. My thing is though, right now I can hardly chew and food temperature has to be the same as the temperature of my mouth! So I was eating pretty well before the pain attacks but now I find myself only being able to eat soft bread and smooth peanut butter, soft crackers and baby food! :0(
I’m slowly trying to eliminate the carbs cuz they are sooo not good for me for other medical reasons as well. I was ashamed to be shopping in the baby food isle, but I decided to suck it up and be grateful that I can at least eat that! When I get the time I will be doing my own puréed food at home. It’s just the thought of it that I have to get over…
I will definitely be doing the protein no sugar thing as well. Thanks!
Thanks for the recommendations and suggestions! The Hcg diet consists of taking the Hcg hormone in EXTREMELY small increments - this works to break down the fat in the body along with eating a VERY restrictive diet. I am able to add all foods back in slowly and methodically...I did not take the med today and it was not AS bad...I don't know! I am gonna see what happens the next few days ---Rick, I appreciate your suggestions! Isn't that the the low carb diet (Atkins / South Beach)? Dude...thanks for the info; I appreciate the feedback peeps!! ...I guess it is just silly 'ole me!! ugh.
Hi Again, Cris,
As I re-thought my initial response to you about my "modified Atkin's Diet" today,I realized that this was a girl thread and I should have just stayed out of it...
I have had such a good result from this "high-fat/high protein" type of regimen, and since I've kept my weight down with plenty of energy for 8 years now; I always want to pass it along. Fats don't make us fat; carbs make us fat.
...Time for me to apply for a new "Man Card" and to Get A Life! ...
Blessings to All,
Rick

I shudder at the word diet. You need something you can stick with for the rest of your life. Fullstop. I lost 70lb in 7 months in 2010. For me, Weight Watchers worked and it's so ingrained in me now that I am happily trundling along within my ideal weight range, have done so (kept all the weight off) since then. Please don't try anything that cuts food groups out (we need them all, including carbohydrates which are still very important for us).
It is hard to keep an eye on what you are eating (or not eating) when you have all this horrible pain. Keep a food diary alongside a pain one so you can see what is going in (and possibly think twice if you are a comfort eater like I was!).
IMHO in line with porcelina - you need to find a "program" that fits your lifestyle and is sustainable. I did the southbeach diet sometime ago lost a ton of weight but eventually found it too restrictive and gained just some of the weight back. Now similarly to Rick I try to stick with proteins and veggies it makes a diff, but wonder if anyone has any of the Anti-inflammatory diets with any success?? (that is the go to recommendation from the bustop crowd, since I have TN but just not convinced it is worth the effort)
PS Rick - must be the TN, eh? We will give you a pass this round ;-)
ummm...okay. Dude's! You are ALWAYS welcome to chime in on any of my 'chick' threads! Ha, ha... :)
I appreciate your comments and suggestions - as I have said, it does make a difference to get out of the 'tunnel' we get in with our daily lives and our daily dealing with our TN "stuff". ...this site is the best way I know of! You guys understand and really no one else does; they try, but just can't. The Hcg diet has been the only way I have lost the weight in a reasonably short amount of time - yes, it is restrictive at first with all food groups / items added back in gradually. It is normally not 'hard' to do, but this time is just not as easy...and still having terrible flare ups. I dunno know. ...but so far, have lost 11 lbs and hope I can continue til have several more gone. I just feel better at a 'normal' weight... we'll see - just not willing to hurt to loose. The trade off is just TOO difficult to stand! ...wouldn't have had to worry about it until this 'lovely' TN. ugh.
