I am off to the dentist in an hour today is major dental work day, am very anxious its on the newly diagnosed side(right). Crown work and a filling on my front tooth that partially fell off that was recently done. I get extremely nervous and anxious on these days. My dentist is very, very good. I generally do not have any pain from his procedures but this side is new. Any feedback would be appreciated?
I almost passed out from fear the first dentist appt I had, LOL! I NEVER get scared at the dentist, but TN makes you that way. Check to see if you can increase your meds a little temporarily if you have pain. Good luck!
I too am scared of the dentist now, especially since I had an MVD that worked. I have had a ton of fillings on the same side, and really havent had too many issues. It does seem that my teeth were more sensitive for a few days after and air would trigger some pain, but nothing major. I had mostly ATN and it was mostly my teeth and ears that hurt
My dentist is amazing with all this, she read that there is a novacaine that is specifically used for TN pain, but I will be darned if I can remember the name..you may want to google it or ask your dentist. She used it with me, but I am difficult to get numb, so we had to use the regular stuff.
I now need a tooth pulled on the same side, but keep putting it off...it does make you nervous and I sure understand, but so far it hasnt been a real issue for me...hope you will be the same.
Going to the dentist is like torture for TNers. I had a good discussion with my dentist and hygienist about what hurts, where it hurts etc. Now my hygienist numbs my entire mouth with a numbing gel even when she just cleans my mouth. Whenever I have to go to the dentist I plan on being out of commission for the rest of that day and the next because it takes a while for me to recover from it.
just arrived home it was a 2 1/2hr appt. 2 crowns, a tiny filling and impressions 4 of them. I got extremely shaky from the epinephrine which was used intially then he used bupvicaine after that. I never had issues befor these last 2x's. I just started shaking to beat the band. My dentist is awesome though he works me thru it and also I have same assistant every visit. Took advil as soon as I got home with my tegretol. Am going to rest been abit of a ruff day.
I just had two silver fillings replaced due to decay under them. Since I am on amitriptyline my dentist cannot use epinephrine on me..I cant remember what he uses but it numbs well and doesn't cause palpitations....Glad you did well at the dentist..
do you think you can find out what your dentist used for numbing since you are on amytriptaline and cannot have epinephrine? would really appreciate it.
Hope you spend the rest of the day being kind to yourself, dental work is not much fun.
I’m in the middle of root canal therapy that looks like it is not going to work but thankfully it is on my non TN side.
Thanks for the information of the medication injected, must remember to check what my dentist uses, I’m also in amytriptaline.
