I found this site quite some time ago and thoroughly vented about being dx. with TN after a crown prep. Later I found how passionate people felt about dental work neuralgia should not be treated with typical TN treatments. It caused me great conflict in listening to what others were saying and what my surgeon was saying. So I stayed off the site for a while and just let my neurosurgeon guide me to where I needed to be.
My savior is Dr. Sahni at the TN Treatment center of VA. He was so kind and no doubt very skilled. It took him a while to offer the MVD, he had to run tests on everything. Dot his i's and cross his t's. I found him 3 months after my dental procedure. My discharge notes state: She is POD5 s/p left MVD 5th cn and partial rhizotomy of 9th CN. Meanwhile though....my ear does hurt and it may take a while for it to stop, but my face is better. I did wind up having to travel back to Richmond, VA on Sunday and was admitted for chemical meningitis, which is another rarity. But, my surgeon and his PA were waiting on me and I treated very quickly and in my own room within an hour of another CT scan and blood work. Now I'm back home and feeling a little better. I'm on a lot of steroids right now and will be for a while to get myself right.
When I heard there was a very large artery laying on my nerve; I felt relief. Relief that someone saw and has pictures of what has been going on with me. I have bilateral TN and GN, another rarity. So, I'll most likely be doing this again, which is unfortunate. But, I'm comforted that there is no better doctor out there. I consulted 3 other neurosurgeons who promptly told me I couldn't be in better hands. I have talked to someone who went to Duke and John Hopkins and then found my Doctor who really did help her. Please if you feel you are getting no where or have lost hope, call Dr. Sahni. I would love everyone on this site to be cared for the way I have. He is AMAZING! - please excuse misspellings and typos - it's the Demerol. :)
