So just found out I have a csf leak into my mastoid bone. My MVD was June 13 and for the past month or so have had fluid feeling clogged ear, bad taste in mouth, very dizzy and pulsing over incision. MRI confirmed an extra-axial fluid pocket and opasification of mastoid air cells. Neurosurgeon has to go back in and seal with bone wax. Has anyone had this done? He said I may not even have to spend the night and back to work in a week. Looking to find others that might give me a personal story of what to expect.
I had my MVD surgery may 23 and on June 2 I had a CSF leak through my nose. They put the patch on with fat they took out of my stomach . Well on June 14 they has to go in again because the patch popped off and it had gotten infected . So I had the third surgery on the 14 of June and have been great since. They decided not to cover the opening of my skull. I have no problems nowwith anything related to TN
Thanks for your reply. How long did it take to recover from the last surgery? I am scared to death of them opening up the incision. It took a solid 8 wks for me to recover from the MVD.
- I saw you are from Dothan! That is where my parents live. They are orig from Opp. My brothers went to HS at Northview. Did you have your surgeries at the medical center?
Update- had csf leak repair Nov 7- and infection, blood clot, hematoma surgery Nov 21. Healing well this time. I believe vomiting caused the bulk of my issues after csf repair. I now have a hollow head feeling when I bite my teeth together or tap the top of my head…any ideas?? I get my sutures out Dec 6
