Continue with dental work?

Hi all...so happy to have found this group. I was diagnosed in early April with atypical TN. My pain mimics tooth pain so before I was diagnosed I had a lot of dental work...my pain comes down into the roots of my incisors so I had root canals and eventual extractions. Implants were placed. After these procedures when my pain persisted my dentist sent me to a neurologist. I had never even heard of TN before...so anyway, I am nearing the time when the crowns can be placed. However, I'm not sure if this will cause even more pain...I do get some relief by putting topical lotions where the tooth should be...Has anyone had any experience with this? Thanks so much in advance. Mary

Hi Mary. My story is very similar to yours. I couldn’t continue with all the dental work due to escalating pain which a medical doctor finally diagnosed as TN. I won’t be be getting an implant now but I do have a temporary crown that needs to be replaced with the permanent. My Neurologist told me not to have any more dental work and that I should get the crown only when I have no TN pain but still on medication. Hope this helps. Take care and Good luck. I’d love to hear how it goes for you. I’d love to get an implant but I’m too worried about the consequences. Hugs

If you continue with the work I would definitely see if you can be put under.... !!!
