In August I started using Young Living Essential Oils. I got into them, mainly to help my kids. My eldest is an Aspie and deals with anxiety on a daily basis, my 4 yr old, foster-adopted, has reactive attachment disorder and exposure to alcohol and drugs. We've been using the oils to help them and have seen improvement. I hadn't really thought about them where my TN was concerned. My first flare was in 2010 and only lasted a few days, just long enough to get the diagnosis and forget about it. My second flare was the very end of 2012 and lasted two weeks. I had been really lucky and hadn't had it to bad until Oct 2013. It hit then and has been on and off since. I'll go a few weeks good then it hits again. This hard winter hasn't helped at all!! It got bad enough in Dec that I finally got on Tegretol. I don't like what it does to me at all but it does relieve the pain. I'm extremely drugged on it and I just can't do it with my 5 kids at home all the time!! Whenever I feel I'm in a remission, I've been pulling myself back off of it and I'll go a week or two without it the pain hits again and I start all over again. I had talked with a Naturopath a few weeks ago to see what she would recommend for my TN. She basically told me that if the meds were helping stick with them until I could find a cause of the pain and go from there. Well that's the fifty million dollar question right there. What's causing the pain??!! Last night I stopped my meds again last night. For the past 3 days I've had a bad kink in my right shoulder and I've tried several different oils to work it out and nothing had helped. Well this morning I saw a combo of 3 oils someone was talking about they were having luck with for a slipped disc. I decided I'd try it on my shoulder. Within 15 secs after applying the oils to my shoulder I was pain free. About an hour later, my neck on the same side started really hurting me but this time it was creeping into my face, my jaw, around my ear, through my teeth. It was all starting to hurt. I was afraid I would have to breakdown and take another pill and I knew I didn't want to have to do that. I decided to try those 3 oils again, this time on my neck. Once again. within 15 secs the pain was gone. I couldn't believe it. I still can't believe it!! For now, I'm pain free thanks to my essential oils!! I'm still searching for doctors and answers but for now this is helping!!
