Can you get disability for TN?

Curious if anyone has had the experience of getting disability for TN. Im possibly going to need to apply soon. I have Tn and was in a car accident got a concussion and whiplash which just totaly irritated the TN . So I am home right now for 5 weeks to start. I may lose my job if I am out past 5 weeks because I will be out of FMLA. I have a disability plan but not sure they accept TN as a disability. Does anyone know if TN is an accepted diagnosis for disability benefits?

im in the process of claiming disability for tn i'm in florida i'm waiting for them to get back to me on my claim im asking for it because for some reason u can't get medicade in florida unless ur disabled

You may have to fight for it, but you should be able to get it if you are completely disabled. And if it's temporary, you should be able to get short-term disability.

I am just in process of applying for LTD from my work and also for our mortgage insurance. So far so good but I do not have final approval. I wish you well. Keep us posted.

Hi, I was given medical disability for TN with associative depression. I was a journalist and simply could not work. I live in South Africa and it is very difficult to get boarded here. The rules are very strict and you have to get through some tough testing. Six months without a salary is one. But I made. Been on disability 5 years now. Two thirds of gross salary until retirement.

Good luck.

This site is being weird tonight - this might be a double post from me

Takes a longggg time for federal govt. to give you Social Security Disability benefits -- so might want to start now. They always turn you down the first time - then you appeal--- gather allll the documentation you can

look in the search box above and type in "disability" or look at the tabs above like "resources" -- there is a whole section on what to do for disability with TN

TN is a qualifying affliction. I have MS(another qualifying affliction) as well and am going through the process. I decided to go with a law firm that takes 20% from the day you file to the day you collect and then their done. I figure if it takes 6 months, a year, or two the 20% would be worth it for them to do all the paper work and go to appeals. I have a hard enough time doing my own bills. Looking back I should have filed the first day I was unemployed due to not being able to get out of the house. I did think everything would go away as it had in the past but no.

When I initially applied for LTD, my diagnosis was only migraines. (They now have the TN dx since my doctors are asked to fill out paperwork for them often.) I was 24 and had gone on temp disability 4 times. I applied for SSD benefits in Sept and was approved by Dec. As soon as the goverment approved SSD my private LTD started, both gave me retroactive pay to the date I applied. I was shocked that I was approved and that quickly! My Neuro at the time told me that a lot of SSD’s desicions are based on the amount of paperwork you send in. She sent them my entire record, all 2 volumes of it.

So my suggestion would be to send them your entire medical record from every doctor and hospital visit. Give them so mich paperwork that they won’t know what to do. Also, start the process as soon as possible. Don’t stop if you get denied. It took a family member 3 tries to get SSD. Lastly, not that I think you are trying to scam anyone, but if you are going to apply for private LTD, watch what you do because they like to put surveillance on people. They will try to use the silliest thing against you. I was ok, but I know someone that lost theirs for something extremely silly.
