Burning pain along the bone behind my ear

Can anyone relate to this? I have type I on the right side in my upper jaw. I have type II on the left. But for the last three days the large bone on the right type I side has been burning and aching. Is this a new “thing”. Or am I developing type II on my type I side?

Oh my! I hope it subsides soon ! Do you have ointment for it!?

I think I will have to try that. I don’t do well with OTC painkillers. They can cause migraines if I take them regularly.

Hi Jackie, it could very well be a presentation of type 2 pain as I do get this as well BUT don’t assume, it could be anything else …worth a doctors visit and perhaps a cream/ointment as KC suggested…
I usually apply heat when this is present…it helps me.
(( hugs )) Mimi

Is this gone??? I sure hope so Jackie!!! :((((

when my pain behind my ear acts up my neuro gives me steroid shots into my occipital nerve. they are relatively painless and the novocaine in the shot gives instant relief while the steroid give relief for a few days to weeks. it is certainly worth a try. is it on the same side and near where the mvd was? mine is and the occipital neuralgia only started about 6 months post mvd. hope this issue has settled down for you by now. hugs

I get a burning so bad I feel like my ear is being torn off- it last about a minute and then subsides. There is no residual effect. I can touch all of my ear and it is normal. But then it strikes again and again. I slight breze can trigger it. Or my glasses sitting right on the ear. I am bilateral, and get it on both sides , although some pains are only on one side or the other.

Very best to you. I have heard other people on this site also talk about ear pain. Good to know you are not alone. We all support each other. But your doctor is the one to give medical advice. Good luck.
