Botox

Hi my Tn has now spread to all 3 branches bilaterally. It spread into my scalp especially along the outer edge of V2 .I have not had a remission in 2 years.

The worst pain is around my temple/ forehead and at the moment I feel if I can get that under control I can cope with the rest. My neuro is not experienced with TN but is now starting to work better with me.

We are considering botox. Im wondering for those who have had it can you get relief in all 3 branches or only V1 and V2. Im imagining to try the 3rd branch might incapacitate your jaw.

Thanks

Bumping this up, so others with Botox experience can help!

I tried Botox for my atypical TN, it did not work at all on me, not one little bit. After the botox, I saw another neuro surgeon, TN specialist Ronald Brisman and he says Botox does not work on trigeminal neuralgia and that there is no research to support it. You might want to check out his web site, just google Dr. Ronald Brisman. Now, botox is relatively cheaper than surgery and it carries very little risk, and your face might look smoother than usual for a few months, so you still might want to try it, especially if you have headaches, because botox does work on headaches.

I tried botox and it did nothing for the pain.
