I was sick on increased meds for TN and decided to read this...DO NOT READ IF YOU ARE DEPRESSED! The author goes through her thought process for committing suicide from TN pain and I can't say after reading this book I blame her. She had a lawsuit against Dr. Jannetta, the Foreword writer to "Striking Back" and pioneer of MVD. She got facial paralysis and useless/dry eye from his procedure, so read this with this knowledge. Book was great in description of TN pain. She really got hosed by many doctors and surgeries over 8 YEARS. She is still living as far as I can tell on net. Both books were copywrited in 2000, so I don't know which came first, the chicken or the egg.
Thanks for the review. While I was googling for this book I found the authors blog. It is a little sad, but man it hits home on how trying it is to have TN with social aspects to treatment and the thoughts that go with it. The author has such a debilitating form of TN in her eye it sounds awful. But in an odd sense it is such encouragement to carry on, as in if they can put up with the pain I can too. I just started reading the blog and she puts it all out there, and she has some thought proking topics such as how other perceive your body language when your in pain, or how it is okay to give to your self in another. If anybody is curious about the blog her is the link to it http://apainedlife.blogspot.com/search?updated-min=2011-01-01T00:00:00-05:00&updated-max=2012-01-01T00:00:00-05:00&max-results=50&m=0
I just read her blog...wow, I have plenty to be thankful for. How can she stand it day to day? We are strong to suffer through our pain and we should give ourselves credit. Carry on TNers, we ARE overcoming.
