Hi everyone! I keep having really bad stomach nausea. I try to eat with my meds but I keep getting nauseated if I do or don’t. I just rather not eat. I have to force myself to eat i dont even feel hungry. I’m even taking the Generic brand of Prilosec to help sooth my stomach from taking Gabapentin and generic brand of Triliptal and I also take indomethacin, a type of pain killer. My pain level has been somewhat manageable except for at night it increases. My headaches have been lessened the past few days but this nausea is making it hard to function. Also, I’ve noticed if I even do anything like the simple basic house cleaning by evening I am hurting bad. My husband says I can’t over do it because I always pay for it in the evenings. I will hear Monday when I get scheduled for going to Dallas. I’m just so tired of all of this. I think it’s starting to depress me again. I want to get up and go with my girls somewhere but I’m exhausted. I try to sleep but when I close my eyes I feel as if I am falling off a cliff, or my body is outside my body or like my mind won’t stop spinning. I’m sure none of this makes sense. Any advice again?
Thanks again! This support group has been so encouraging!
Forgive me Nikki, I forget how long you have been on your current meds. If it is still early days then I can say truly I have felt exactly how you describe in the past in my early times of taking a new medication. Especially the outer body feeling, at times I felt as if I had a twin walking at the side of me, the twin was me and I felt like my own sister. Does that make any sense? It reads rubbish!
I forgot to say Nikki, “fair grounding” is a common side effect of Gabapentin. I only look upwards if I am hanging onto something. I NEVER climb ladders!
Hi Nikki, oh Lord, I can remember feeling just like that, except I was on Tegretol. It all sounds pretty crazy, I know. I had to sleep propped up because if I bent over or laid down the pain would shoot though my face even with all the meds. I pushed me bed against the wall and put one foot on the wall. It help stop the room from spinning. Lol Prilosec didn't work for me but Pepcid Complete helped me quite a bit. It was the worst weight loss program I have ever seen! I also had to learn my limitations. I learned to take hot, hot baths in the evening when it really gets bad, and I have learned to "meditate". Those are some tips that I learned from other sufferers. I so hope you are better soon!
Have you asked your doctor about Penergan or Zofran? These are prescription anti-nausea meds. I'm not sure if they can be taken with anti-seizure meds but it's worth looking into. I also have refief with liquid Mylanta when I have stomach issues. Hope you feel better.
Antiemetics (anti-nausea drugs) are an option from your doctor however they need to be used with caution as a lot of them will interact with anti-convulsants (like gabapentin, tegretol etc) and cause extrapyramidal effects (basically worsen your central nervous system effect you may get already or could get such as dizziness, unwanted limb movement or tremors, sleepiness etc).
How often do you take your drugs? If it's three or four times a day and you are cramming them into when you are awake it might help to space them out to strictly 8hrly if 3 times a day or 6hrly if 4 times a day (does mean setting an alarm and taking one in the middle of the night) but it means that you have a more stable level in your blood stream of the drugs which means you are less likely to get a spike when you take some more (which may lead to nausea).
Hi Nikki i had same issue with Nausea while taking Gabapentin 2700 MG and he changed me to Phenytoin /Dilanton 400 MG along with Nucynta 50 MG 3 times a day. My neurolgist gave me Ondansetron 4 MG - 1-2 tablets a day to help with the nausea and did help me after a few days of taking. I also ate Greek Yogurt/PLAIN that Dr I was seeing for Acupuncture- suggested. Hope you feel well soon.
