I was nauseated for at least 6 months. I finally learned to take it with food. I also had to divide my doses more than originally prescribed too. I took it 3 times per day instead of 2 as my doctor instructed. She said it shouldn't matter but you should definitely contact your pharmacist as KC said too.

Now I'm on 900 mg and have very little nausea but I still experience it some if I don't eat at the right times with it. I was on 1800 mg (before MVD) and my nausea was much worse then. I also found the other side affects like dizziness and double vision wasn't near as bad if I ate a full meal before taking it.

KAT…Awwww. So kind…

Re… MVD

Most of us should take off threeeee weeks with MVD… I have seen men seem to give themselves

less time to heal…then you have to wait 52 weeks for your head as good as it can get!

NO,! I got even better at 1.5 years…lucky for now…

So when you get it worked out, insurance and such…for MVD…come here for a soft place to fall,!

Hey Kath, did you have blood tests done before starting the trileptal? It’s really important to track sodium levels. I had to ditch it after I increased to 600. My sodium levels dropped to the danger zone. I was also on 3,600 gabapentin.

Just a thank you! I'm also on Trileptal, 600 a day w/doc wanting me up at 900. No problem at 600, but the nausea is extreme even with food at 900, to the point where I end up in bed holding my belly. I'm going to try taking it 3 times a day with food & see if that helps.

I also had nausea when I started on Trileptal. I called my pharmacist and told her I needed to do something because not taking the meds (with the pain I was in) was not an option. She told me to come right in and get this xxx product (sorry, cannot remember the name) and it did the trick right away. It was an over-the-counter anti-nausea syrup. I wondered why I didn't know about this before. It sure would help with those stomach viruses the kids sometimes get.

After a couple of weeks, my body adjusted and I'd only have then a little nausea with each dose increase. I eventually ended up on 1800mg of Trileptal, which gave me scary episodes that felt like I was on an illicit drug trip so I had to switch to Tegretol. If you even have to switch, have them put you on the Tegretol XR. It is an extended release so the side effects aren't quite as bad. Unfortunately, the foggy/forgetful/mental side effects are ongoing for both. The only plus I found with these drugs is that I have never slept better :).

Had my MVD 3 weeks ago so I'm hoping to get off my meds soon and live a med-free, pain-free life :).
