Im looking for any expert/doctors/hospitals/pain clinics that anyone has found helpful in London, especially for ATN. I live near Angel but Im willing to go all over London. Any recommendations? thanks
I am in wembley park north west London. I have found London absolutely useless. I am suffering for one year now and only now my dr has referred me to a neurologist reluctantly. Please let me know if u find any joy anywhere. I would love to support and be supported.
Sorry wish I did
Amol oh no how awful, a compassionate understanding doctor can make all the difference even if all they can do is support you....I just looked in the doctors tab under London and came across Dr Joanna, I actually read about her somewhere online as well she is supposed to be quite good...wonder how long it would take to get an appointment probably a nightmare. Well I am going to see my GP in a few weeks in the meantime i will do some researching and keep you guys updated if I come across anything good.
tamzee be assertive when asking your GP to refer u to a neurologist.
Just wanted to keep you all updated. I highly recommend the Eastman Dental Hospital. I saw Dr. Stefano Fedele there privately and he is very nice and knowledgable.I also saw another dr there through the NHS as a second opinion but I didnt like her as much. The wait was about 4 months. They also transfer you to their facial pain management clinic where they teach you how to deal with the pain and you meet others who are going through similar experiences. They are very specialized in facial pain, more so than the average neurologist.
Google Dr Johanna Zakrzuska at the UCLH. She was on a discussion recently on Radio 4. Unfortunately was as about TN, not GN.
Hope you come right.

tamzee,
Have you come right?

Hi Paul,
Thanks for the concern. I am thankfully doing well :) I have definitely heard of Dr. Zakrzuska and I've been trying to get an appointment with her but she only does NHS so its a long wait. She is also at the Eastman dental hospital and a colleague of my doctor, Dr Stefano Fedele. Wishing you a pain free day!

I wonder how they teach you to ‘deal’ with the pain? I believe that only people who have been through the same experience, can give a person advice! I still don’t understand though. Could you share this with me please?
Hi Saint_Paul,
sorry for the late reply. I never actually participated in the program as I left the UK. I would have loved the opportunity to try it. I have talked to a former psychologist who worked there and she was so nice and understanding so I think they are generally sympathetic from their years of working with TN patients. And you get to meet other patients in support groups so you get both types of support and advice. I would definitely give it a try if you have the opportunity.
