I have had unsuccessful MVD and Gamma Knife surgeries over the past yr and a half. My TN is said to be extremely intense, the worst case seen by my neurologist and neurosurgeon both and rare considering I am 21 yrs old! I am currently on about 10 different meds, 2 of which are pain killers and am getting botox every 2 months…a family friend knows of a girl who had this extreme nerve problem that was horrible and went to Texas for this therapy and within months was able to move and eventually get her life back
This therapy is being done in a psyical therapist office in my town and is something that has been suggested for my TN…has anyone ever heard of this?? And if so, any opinions? thoughts? concerns? and so forth…
Please let me know what you think or if you have heard of it
Thanks
I haven’t heard of it but I may check into it also. Liz
TN is definitely a struggle!
Michaela , thank’s for sharing your story, you are not alone
me: painfree since august '08 … either my drugs are working or i’m in remission, i’m not sure and simply not ready to reduce the med’s to check
oddly enough three different friends asked about my face today ( this is rare, usually it’s my own private burning cross )
i reminded them if i’m not complaining , there’s probably 'no pain’
big sigh ~
bless you my dear
i pray peace is only step away for you

percocet just increases my pain you might want to try to not take those… for me good old fashioned 2 Midol pms pills with 2 muscle relaxers and 3-6 chewable tegretol pills is the only combination of meds that help me. I didnt want to get hooked on methodone so i turned it down but Ive heard if it doesnt help you then you might as well stop trying pain meds and should focus on random cocktails til u find something that works. Also, if your working a full time job that probably has alot to do with why you havnt had any relief…after I quit my stressful job my attacks pain and length of time went down to like 50% of how bad it was when I was working…after about 4 months…now I just have a random horrible day here and there.
But if your in so much pain constantly you cant seem to get through the day you might want to look into getting weekly spinal shots. I had to get 2 myself when it was so bad I couldnt stay at my own home because of the screaming…quick shot to the spine and I was pain free for liek 3 days it was the best sleep too… slept for like 36 hours straight with no pain to wake me it was heavenly
Hi Friends
Haven’t been here in a while… The TN has reared it’s ugly head again, first week of May 09. It’s been a whirl wind of pain combined with side effects that I refer to as mad cow disease ( I hit the floor pretty quick, combined with severe double vision X 10 ). I’ve been waiting four months to see my neurologist. I see him Sept 14th. I can almost hear hm say the words now ’ you’re doing really well’ !!
Are you kidding?? By the time I get in to see him I 'm on the up side ( which is good too ). I’ve either been a walking zombie or completely horizontal. I can still eat ( I use this term loosely ) most days.
Ice cream, again!! Strangely the cold is fine inside and out. I’ve even driven around with an ice pack in the car. I will ask him again why I am not a canididate for surgery. It may not kill me , but it will be the death of me. Oddly enough I have purchased a family granite monument and will have my name engraved in advance. Don’t laugh it is peaceful experience. The engraver has a wonderful sense of humour, he follows my lead
I don’t know . . .
