A Threat to Quality of Life for TN Patients? Must Read Links

I hope the link to Keri's comment shows up. I find this very concerning to all chronic intractable pain patients.

I wish. The group is a bit over zealous to me. Here are some links on this group. I'm a weirdo and have asked my doctors opinions on these groups; both acknowledge this group has good intentions BUT this is lost due to their over zealous nature, and the group is injecting personal opinions into medical practice which is and can be harmful to a doctor patient relationship and treatment. The other issue is the group uses half truths or at time has false information. Another issue is how they label complex chronic non cancerous intertralble pain patients as addicts. Their is a very big difference from addict and depended. Bottom line is my doctors did not particularly like this group. Read into them and ask your doctor/s on their thoughts of this group.

Here is some article against PROP or pointing out the issues of how pain patients are being treated when it is hard to obtain their opioid scrips

It shows up fine, thanks Keri for digging all the way into this issue.

Stef,

The links show up fine, and thanks again for featuring these and posting them.

Mac,

You are most welcome for the info too.

I think it's important to know what is going on within the chronic pain community, and for those of use whom rely on opioids to be able to functions at some level. So groups like these, the FDA's recent over board craze on seeking out pill mills, abusers, and over prescribes of opioids, and the medias news stories that over sensational of opioid addicts, abuse, and over doses that put the public's overall view of these medications in bad light is an attack on each and everyone of us and our ability to have a quality of life. None of us had the choice to have TN, nor do we desire and want to use these medications. It is just a matter fact for whichever reason need to use this group of medicine. So personally I find this important to watch and if needed protest against.

To me the most dangerous group that is against the use of narcotics is parents, friends, and former addicts who are battling addiction or have lost someone to an OD. At this point there are so many different groups that are against prescribtion opioids for their own reasons, but the parents that are affected by their kids seem to me the most scary. I can understand these parents point of view BUT I think they are under a perception that is affected by their own problems. One group I came across today had this to state on reasons people abuse prescription narcotics. This is one of their points against narcotics, do you notice the pain thing? It just irks me. Motivations for their abuse. Underlying reasons include: Experimentation to get high, to counter anxiety, relieve pain, or alleviate sleep problems.

Here is a link to this group.

I was not able to look to much on this groups page but I have a feeling they are pro PROPS. Sorry this is rambling but really this is the type of thinking that bugs and scares me. Most if any at all in these types of groups have no clue as to what their agendas could do to someone (like us) who don't abuse and need these medications. Some seem to be out right against chronic pain patients all together to me. Ugh. But yes I think it is important for us to watch these types of groups. If anybody else has any other groups like these or some pro chronic pain patients groups I would really be interested to see those.

Okay I'll get off my rambling soap box now.

Thanks all:)
